  • I'm seeing this for around $165-$170 on Aliexpress from reputable buyers. Even with DHL delivery you're still going to get it for less than $190.

And watch out for the dual sim frequency ranges.. the 3G channel is 850/2100 which end up being a problem on some networks.

  • Can't comment about this specific phone but I've got a very similar asian-made phone with identical specs. The octa-core CPU is insanely quick but does have an impact on battery life; however, when not actively using the phone the unused cores are shut down and the battery life is pretty good (4 days).

    • this is a known brand in china.

No HDMI and doesn't support MHL. 1GB RAM also seems a bit low for an 8 core device.

    • Yea I went for the THL T11 for this reason. 2GB ram, 2750mAh battery and has 850/1900/2100. No MHL though unfortunately

All these phones are terrible - it appears they all have UUFAs ;)

        (unnecessary unknown feature acronyms)

Or maybe I'm just getting old

MHL = HDMI output (connection to a TV) via the devices microUSB port. It's a standard feature on most mid to high end (western) phones. I have tried 2 devices that supported MHL and neither worked on any screen I tested. Cool feature, but useless if it doesn't work. MHL is being replaced with slimport which seems to be better in every way and still uses the phones microUSB port.

(I got the joke, just thought others might want to know)

    • Why do these Chinese phones always have low RAM? Does having 2gb or 3gb ram up the price exponentially vs having an octa core cpu?

  • My recommendation for a phablet in the $200+ range is the Huawei Honor 3c.

Downside is the 8GB of NAND (note 32GB version is available) and quad core spec, but you do get 2GB of RAM, a larger battery capacity and Sony-branded BSI camera sensor.

    • I wouldn't say 5" is a phablet, smaller than flagship Samsung S5.

Anyway, you probably weren't making a direct comparison. Can't recommend THL enough though for phablets

      • 5" — that's the screen size of the original phablet, Samsung Galaxy Note…

  • Not the cheapest out there. Adding Fastcardtech to the list as another store with cheaper price.

Going bit off topic can't wait till the new Rockchip RK3288 to be released.

  • I'm happy to wait for a Oneplus One.
