  • Hi, there are some forums here with real users you might want to ask your questions on:

    http://www.energymatters.com.au/

    Direct link to the forums:

    http://forums.energymatters.com.au/

I have no connection to them except that I read their newsletters for interest. I can't install a system, I live in a flat.

  • I'm not in Melbourne, so I can't respond directly to your query.

if you are interested, you can have a look at a site like pvoutput.org.

PVOutput is free where solar owners can upload their output to view trends over time. Useful for checking out what others in the area might be outputting.

Check out the "teams page" http://pvoutput.org/team.jsp and you can narrow down a spot check even further.

That said; it is impossible to tell exactly how the other users have their setup; angle to sun, shade on roof - and I wouldn't use those numbers to do anything important. If you do, you should be labelled as criminally insane :)

I'd recommend that you talk to a solar installer who has a good name in your area for advice. You don't have to buy, after all.

  • I've used near map solar to calculate the power I'll generate with solar and from there went to look for the kw system I selected and the prices to install the system.

    Good benefit v cost analysis.
