Acer Aspire E1-522 15.6" 4GB 500GB $339.15 Dick Smith

140

This is my first submission, I typically lurk, I just thought this was a good deal for anyone that needs a cheap laptop.

Doesn't seem to be on Dick Smith website though, there is a similar one for $440 but I mistook it for the same one. This was at Dick Smith Eastland which is in Ringwood, VIC.

Here is an image of receipt plus stats on laptop. Seems not bad for $340.

The laptop you bought is a dual core but the link provided is for a quad core A4 laptop. Even the specs above are not correct. There is almost $100 price difference between dual core and quad core in Acer E1 series.

    • Sorry about that, I should've paid more attention before submitting.

Correction:you should have paid more attention before buying a dual core.

nah, it's all i need for what i'm using it for, bigger screen was just a bonus.

        • i have the quad core version of it. Very slim and sleek design.

        • Not all dual core and quad cores are equal. There are slow quads around and a lot of fast dual cores, including but not limited to i5's and even some i7's.

    wow, I can sell it as replace parts: LCD Panel $80 + Ram $45 + HDD $60 + Charger $50 + DVDRW $30 + Wifi card $15 + Win7 $100 = $380, plus some plastic and a battery.

I get it, it's cheap but it's all I needed, no point spending 500 or a 1000 if i'm only installing lubuntu and using terminal most of the time.

I got the E1-572 with the cashback from MSY that worked out to be around $499 or something. Slightly more powerful than this model, but I agree about no need in spending too much when all you are doing is word processing or anything that isn't excessively CPU/video intensive.

Yes but if you already have an i7 desktop, there isn't much sense in spending extra on a laptop, at least in my situation, which is why I posted this up as I had been looking for something dirt cheap but with a larger screen.

          coz it's $160 cheaper!

That means more torches and eneloops for the collection my friend :)

        • Its a decent system for use as a smart TV box/media player/web surfer for those sick of dealing with the limitations found in cheap conversion devices like WD TV and android etc. People like me.

One HDMI cable, a BT mouse and KB and youre away. I was about to build a mITX quad core box, but Id consider this instead.

I hope you didn't get that recently, because I just went to MSY yesterday and picked up the same laptop for $399(after cashback).

          The deal is still on

It's the one on the top right corner.

        • Can you please be more specific as in model number. If it's the one I think, only available in some stores.
