  • LG G2 is $454.96 ($50 cashback ended yesterday I think)

    • cashback expired, I've been waiting last night till the last minute to expect this 12DAYSTORIO code but didn't happen :(

    • Thanks. Purchased one. Still a good price without the cashback!

  • +1

I have voted +1 for this deal because at that discounted price it is a good deal, however for me that is still a very high price for this phone. I will wait until price comes down a bit.

    • for 2 years local warranty, this is the lowest at this moment, remember what happened with HTC One M7 last year till now, it barely on sales, $483 for the M7 is not too bad too

    • +3

If only the HTC One M7/M8 had a decent camera. Everything else with regards to the internal specs and external design appeals to me.

      • the duo camera is not so bad, think about a Lytro would cost around $400+ when first launched and now you have it on a phone

        • I'm more interested in normal image quality as opposed to the ability to change the focus in post-processing.
Have moved from the HTC One X, Note 2, S4 and finally at the iPhone 5S. It's a progression to something either equal or better; the Ultrapixel just seems like a step back unfortunately.

That said, the price is pretty good for Australian stock. Who knows, I might be rocking a new HTC later in the day ;)

        • +2

Just wondering if you have actually used the camera on these phones for a period longer than just testing in store? While the camera may lack M.P. it's low light performance is imo so much better than others.

I've had my M7 for nearly a year and still love it. It's been the first ph that I've had that I don't feel like an upgrade to a new model is necessary. It does everything I need it too and more. I would definitely recommend it, and @ $482 it's a bargain

        • I've got a friend who has the M7. The photos that I receive from them are average.

We tried using it to take photos in a relatively low-light environment, at a wedding, and both the HTC One M7 and another person's iPhone 4S failed to produce good quality photos. My iPhone 5S worked reasonably well in comparison.

        • +1

Did you have it set so that you touch where on the screen to focus? 9/10 people just point and shoot rather than focus on different shades to get the desired aperture. E.g I can touch on a dark shadow area on the screen which results in the aperture changing to let in much more light. Or if it has to much light touch on a bright area.

Just suggestions because I think most people don't actually give the m7 camera a chance to prove how capable it is.

  • HTC's are so much better built than Samsungs, but the One M8 sure looks bulky/thick next to the Galaxy S4 and S5.

    • +2

No way, recently picked one up and its fantastic. Not too heavy, build quality is far more superior and its just about on par with the S5 in regards to thickness. Wouldbuyagain/10

$720 is considered a good price for a smartphone? Are people just crazy for thinking paying that and more for a phone is a good deal?

I really wanted this phone after using the HTC One X, but now I realise it can't do anything much more than my current phone can.

    • +2

$720 is considered a good price for a smartphone?

For a phone, it's crazy. For a smartphone and personal productivity tool, it's amazing. Compared to my laptop, I think the price per hour usage with my smartphone is unbelievable value.

My focus has been on Chinese smart phones recently and the shock I get when I look at flagships going for this is nuts.

Comparable specc'd phones can be easily found under $300 and comparable phones like Oppo, OnePlus and Xiaomi can be found for $300-$600 with some dramatic feature improvements, not to mention who's going to follow their lead in the future. There's definitely going to be a big shift in this market soon.

        • +1

If you don't mind, could you please send me links to where you get your Chinese smartphones? Some of them have great specs but I do not know of a reliable seller.

        • Sorry there aren't really any notifications for when people reply.

There are plenty of retailers out there and I am yet to find one that is 100% scam but it's definitely a good idea to research the reseller before buying. They tend to just have bad communication and sometimes require a paypal dispute to motivate them. I have had experience with the following resellers.

          www.1949deal.com/
          www.merimobiles.com/
          www.pandawill.com/ (Currently having difficulties)
          www.thlmobilestore.com/
          www.spemall.com/

Also www.aliexpress.com/ have a lot of resellers but I have been warned to thoroughly check their ratings before going with one of them. Also if you find a reseller selling a phone that isn't out yet I would message them (most have live chat and are usually on later in the day/evening) as sometimes their website aren't totally reflective of the stock levels.

Finally always shop around for specs! Resellers often have inconsistent specs (as do some manufacturers) so you're best bet is to check the manufacturer or look for reviews on independent forums and blogs. A list of the sites I use for that is

          www.gizchina.com/
          www.gizbeat.com/
          www.chinamobilemag.com/
          www.gsmarena.com/
          www.android-mobile-phone-reviews.com/

          Hope that helps :)

That is true, the price per hour usage is great. I also like the look of this phone a lot, but what can it do more than my HTC One X that can justify $720? This is not a jab at you or the phone, but just the idea that buying a top of the line smartphone every two years is sensible. Also throw in the Nexus 5 into it, at $449 then it is even less clear.

I've been using the same laptop since 2007, dying now, but that is 7 years worth of use for $1,500. Will a smartphone last 7 years? Doubt it, perhaps 3 to 4 years at best. If you upgrade every 2 years then over 7 years you've purchased 4 phones at $750 each that is $3,000. Crazy!

What can the HTC One M8 do that my HTC One X can't, the phone could handle the new software features if HTC were to release them. I'd prefer to pay a $30 upgrade every year for new software features.

        • Will a smartphone last 7 years? Doubt it, perhaps 3 to 4 years at best.

Having a smartphone does not stop me from using my laptop. By "hour" I mean it. My smartphone hardly leaves my side! It's the first device I wake up to and last I set down when I finally doze off. In between during the day, I reckon I'd spend maybe 8 hours everyday on average. My laptop/computer(s) maybe three to four hours during work days.

But look, don't buy one if you don't need one. You're not missing anything.

        • +1

"My smartphone hardly leaves my side"……….. i think thats the BIGGEST problem in today's social world. I dont have parties/BBQ's anymore because everyone sits there playing with their f*&^%$g phone !!!

        • At least you have real friends.

        • What's with all the questions regarding the phone bro, just don't f**king buy it.

        • Cheers for your input, I guess the comments section isn't for comments then.

      • +1

Why does this phone cost so much? Is it much better than nexus 4. I have a nexus 4 and it cost $249, what do I get paying $233 or $472 more???

    • In this day and age, your smartphone is one of the closest and most frequent object you use everyday. The prices may vary but investing in a good smartphone is a very smart thing to do.

  • Get some DSE giftcard from BigW today to bring the prices down to $648.65 and $434.02, and pay for those giftcards with your ING paywave to drag them further down to $616.22 and $412.32.

    How's this sound?

    • u meant with JBHiFi discounted gift cards bought from BigW? then pricematch at JB?

      • +1

I saw DSE giftcards in bigW this morning, they are no longer wollies group and not excluded from the 10% off sale.

        • +1

Depends on the store. Good luck with your multiple ing transactions too.

        • i tried, not working, only JbHiFi then

        • Has anybody tried price match at jbhifi?I read in forums they don't price match internet deals like discounted coupon ones!so was wondering if any one has tried it.

        • I don't have it, any more~~~

    • Tried this, apparently they're unable to process the discount on gift cards (at least at QV BigW). I'll try calling to complain - that might get me somewhere.

  • I have the M7 in dual sim, love it. Waiting for the M8 to come out with dual sim. Anyone heard anything? is it going to happen?

  • -1

Does anyone have link to m7?

    • just type htc one m7 at search and it would appear ;)

  • Which is better? The HTC M7 or LG G2 now the prices are neck to neck?

    • G2 specs are better, but material wise M7 is better.

  • Damn, I ran around the whole of yesterday trying to get 10% off jb hifi vouchers so I can get the s5 on a discount. Didn't get it, caved and bought it anyway, then this happens… Would take it knowing its only 720.

    I PAID 860!

  • -1

Thanks Op bought a laptop with the code.. got $50 off the price :)

  • -4

I would rather buy an iPhone

    • You'd rather pay more than $900 for an iPhone? yeah right…

  • +1

I've owned a 5s and I chose to sell it for the m7. Only real negative against iPhones other than price is screen size. Make a 4.7-5 inch iPhone then perhaps I'll prefer one over the HTC. Its all horses for courses at the end of the day.

  • -1

Can anyone confirm if the link is still working? I am after HTC One M7. Thanks
