  • Title is a bit misleading.

  • and Mick 123 - this was not purposely misleading. Perhaps a little to hastily listed is all…

Unfortunately the system has locked me out from changing the listing due to the 2 negative votes about the title.

120GB Model is available for $789.
250GB Model is available for $979.

    • have another go, i've withdrawn neg vote. Hopefully will work

      • me too :)

  • Thanks. Appreciate the advice. Wasn't meaning to mislead anyone.

  • Instead of jumping in to post offers, maybe reps should read the deal posting guidlines first.

  • For those prices I'd want far more than a free case!

Amazon is currently selling the 250Gb model for US$280, which is about A$350. Even adding in the leather case (under A$30) that leaves you about A$600 to cover shipping before this "free case" becomes good value.

(And remember - ship via USPS and you won't pay GST on less than A$1000)

  • Sorry to let you know froberts2 -

The Archos 5 is not available for shipping to Australia from Amazon or any other American/European seller. There is a specific arrangement in place for the Australian market.

If you can find a better deal from an Aussie reseller, please let us know at [email protected]

    • +1

This almost seems insulting to the consumers here. But then how hard is it to purchase it, have it delivered to a US address and then arrange shipping remotely - a couple of hours effort is probably worth the $500 odd difference…

      • there are reputable companies that do just this for only a small fee, cna't think of them of the top of my head but I'm sure someone will be able to name them.

        • There are many. To name a few: vPost, My US, and PriceUSA. If you want that personal touch of customer service, I would recommend PriceUSA, a company run by Carolina who frequents a lot on whirlpool.

However remember the risk of getting items like this shipped from overseas though. If something breaks, you'll need to consider warranty claims, turnaround time to get it back from the manufacturer, etc.

      • very insulting

        • ditto

    • I know you are a business and you are trying to make money in tough times.
But do you need to try and use Telstra tactics and be anti-competitive.
Remember, when you are providing a service over the Internet you aren't just competing locally anymore, you are competing against the entire world.
People have a choice and online customers should not be treated like "chumps".

      • To be fair it seems unlikely that Eljo have anything to do with the arrangement in place for the Australian market. Given the opportunities in place they may be offering an ok deal for local sale of the laptop, it's just that there are better options available

  • Thank-you atreius for your reasonable response. You are precisely correct.

The offer listed in these pages is merely giving those people out there who prefer to buy locally the chance to receive a free case with their purchase, a freebie which we do not have to offer, but rather which we choose to offer to our customers.

Further, when compared to other Australian resellers of the products mentioned, we are very reasonably priced. Unfortunately conditions are such that it is very difficult to compete globally on this product.

We are extremely sorry to have evidently insulted so many people. Please understand that this was not our intention.
