  • OP please update title to include battery size which is AA

    • +1

The AAA are also the same price. OP says in description that other Eneloop batteries also on sale, the 8 pack tropical is $29.99 etc.
      http://search.dicksmith.com.au/search#w=eneloop

      • To be fair though, the AAA pack would not be 2500mAh.

        • That is true, they are 950mAH.
So considering that, and that the image is clearly a AA battery, did AA being in the title matter much?

  • +1

Good if you need some of these for high drain devices. If not, get the special 8pks for $20 when on special every so often by DSE.

  • My wireless mouse only needs 1 battery so I ordered the standard Eneloop 2000mah AA 2k for $8.98 instead and have one as a spare. That's not a bad deal either normally $15.

  • Thanks, ordered.

    Back to batteries. Life's normal.

  • Thanks. Been waiting for another deal on these.

  • I'm a battery noob. Which cheaP charger should I buy?

It's only to charge batteries for Apple wireless mouse and keyboard.

    Thanks!

    • +1

If it's just for that, you'd be better off (pricewise) just using standard alkaline batteries off the shelf!
If you still really want to get some good rechargeable batteries and charger, I'd suggest starting with the Eneloop quick charger and 4 battery pack (about $30) from Masters!

      • Ok cool. Thanks!

      • The Eneloop quick charger + 4 batteries is $29 from Masters. Here's an online link to buy online if the local Masters doesn't have it in stock. It's a clearance item and store stock seems to be patchy.

        https://www.masters.com.au/product/900046941/Sanyo-Sanyo-Ene…

        • How many quick charge slots does that charger have. From the pic it looks like only two are quick. And can you charge the high capacity Eneloops with this ?

        • I see that. I would have thought any of the 4 slots would be quick charge.

After doing some googling i've found out that it's the MQR06 charger model if that helps.

This is the Eneloop manufacturers page for it shows the specs. It says it has individual cell charging control.

          http://test2.sanyo-component.com/eneloop/eneloop-products/ch…

        • That's not the one you want to buy, it's previous gen.
Here's the link you want. You'll notice the batteries have a longer life cycle on these!

Also, the charger charges at different rates depending how many batteries are inserted. For a single battery you charge it in slot 1 for the quickest charge, then for 2 batteries it's slots 1 & 4, then for 3 or 4 wherever!

  • On the DSE website the 40% discount on the Eneloop Rechargeable NiMH 'AAA' Battery, 4-Piece Pack has been calculated incorrectly.
    It states $15.58 SAVE $9.40
    40% off $24.98 is $14.99 not $15.58
The website clearly states 40% off all rechargeable batteries.

  • When I add it to cart it displays the full price. Any ideas why?

    • same here :(

    • I get the same so no buy, might be a good thing. Do I really need more eneloops ?

      • One ALWAYS needs more eneloops!

        • Of course - how could I have forgotten that !

  • That's still $4/cell, they would have to be the ducks nuts to pay that much.

Turnigy LSD cells (2400mAh) work out to ~ $2.25/cell and I have trouble believing these will be nearly 2x as good.

    • -1

These are Eneloop of course they're 2x as good. These are made in Japan and widely known for great reliability not like your Turnigy which would be made in China.

      • Any testing done to show the difference? Or just eneloops are better because they're eneloops?

My cells are still performing strong despite the abuse from the kids and their toys.

        • -1

No testing that i can find.

        • There are tests done all the time, but Turnigys have not been graphed etc. The consensus among people who care about this stuff, is the Turnigys arent that great. In low drain situations they are fine though. The people Im referring too are fairly anal about batteries.

If we were talking $100 a battery, double the price would sway me, but as it is only a few dollars, Id just buy the Eneloops and use them in everything.

        • Was about to go into the Turnigy / Eneloop debate, then I realized that this post is for the XX, not the standards!

  • When i'm adding the Eneloop XX AA 2550mah 4pack to the cart it's showing as full price $26.98.

Actually all the Eneloop NIMH battery packs on the list that are showing on sale are being added to the cart as full price. Dicky stuffed up again.

    • +2

yups, normal price. No deal here

      • 8 pack tropical also showing $49.98 not $29.98

  • Wonder how old these stocks are? Eneloop is fully owned and selling under Panasonic brand in Japan, acquisition took place back in 2009-2010.

    • I'd say the stock must be older than 2013 because that's when the Sanyo brand label was discontinued and they were renamed to Panasonic Eneloop. So it wouldn't say Sanyo on the top right of the packaging.

These are the new Panasonic Eneloop NIMH batteries which obviously hasn't got to Australia yet. Basically the same as the current Eneloop batteries except for the Panasonic brand label on the battery.

      http://news.mynavi.jp/articles/2013/03/04/eneloop_by_panason…

      • just checked the tropical colored package purchased on last deal : production date 2013-08
charger and batteries from Masters no date

        • Just found out that the new Panasonic Eneloop was launched only a few months ago back in april 2014. The tropical coloured pack was probably the last lot made under the Sanyo brand. It does have Sanyo on those tropical packs.

          http://www.panasonic-batteries.com/eu/news/panasonic-launche…

I suppose in the not too distant future we'll see Eneloop batteries with the brand Panasonic on them. As i said there doesn't seem to be any difference between the new Panasonic Eneloop and the previous Sanyo Eneloop other than the branding label.

So it's actually in 2014 when the Sanyo Eneloop was discontinued. My mistake. I should stop relying on Wikipedia as it incorrectly claimed that Panasonic Eneloop labelling packaging was introduced in April 2013. No Wikipedia it's more like April 2014.

    • Actually its very valid as a point. We in Oceania, will most likely be getting Eneloops made in China from now on. Some parts of the world will get Eneloops made in Japan at the same factory that has made them for years. But as time passes, China will make all of them. The process to shift full production has started.

Obviously older stock will still be Japanese cells, they didnt build a time machine. I personally will not buy an Eneloop that is newer than Gen4.

If you hunt around you will find more
      http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?385722-Eneloops-now-being-made-in-China!

I cant find it now, but I did see a spreadsheet that showed Oceania was on the Chinese factorys list of destinations. Hw much will eventuate is anyones guess, but they seem to have the ball rolling on the factory in China so its probably a fair assumption its well and truly happening.

  • Well all the prices for all the Eneloop batteries on the Dick Smith site have gone back to normal full price. The deal is over. Even the Eneloop tropical 8pack is $49.98 down from $69.98 (ripoff).

You would have thought when it said offer ends 22-Jun-14 that it would mean at mid night but obviously not.
