Think it is a great deal.

Shipping is $10 to me (5000).

Shopping express described the item as Australian stock, so you don't need to worry about the warranty issue.

Z ULTRA is here: http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/sony-xperia-z-ultra-16…

However, be aware, sony Z series might have screen cracking problem.

Z Ultra is $449 from MSY and the Z1 is $479 so pretty decent pricing.

Z1 is a great phone, mine is still going strong, still snappy too.

Highly recommended for anyone sitting on the fence.

Any weak screen problems that the 1st model has?

      • Nothing to worry about the screen, but forget about taking photos in low light conditions.

        • What do you mean? I thought it has a flash.

  • would rather get a Z2 from Telstra, better screen colour, better warranty services with bit extra

      But not close to $449.

  • No camera flash on the Z Ultra. May be a deal breaker for some. Also seems to be lots of screen cracking reports online.

I assume the screens break because lack of respect rather than a wizard coming in the middle of the night and magically cracking the screen.

    • there has also been screen cracking reports online for the iphones and samsung galaxy… what's your point? lol

    • Has been using Xperia Ultra for the past 2 months, what crack?

      • Thoughts on the Ultra? I've got a Note 3, but like the splash-proof Ultra concept - the camera is seemingly the biggest drawback though

        • great device as long as you know how to carry it. I imagine having a note already wouldnt be too much of a change

        • Mix feelings…

          The goods
          - extremely slim
          - great build quality, feel like you are holding an iPhone 4
          - good battery life (galaxy note 3 good)
          - fast (that's expected from snapdragon 800)
          - huge screen (duh?)

          The bads
          - slippery and hard to get a firm grip of it

          • forget about using the phone with one hand unless you want a "crack" on your phone screen or your have enormous palm.

          • WiFi is a little buggy and it switched itself intermittently after a while and won't reconnect if you don't restart the phone. Yes, I reset the phone already and still did the same.

          • the screen is not exactly the best quality you can get (342 ppi), if you come from note 3, you MIGHT notice the tiny difference. I switched from LG G2, and I can definitely tell.

          • the camera constantly overexposed. If you are fussy about photo quality, don't bother, it ain't for you. For me, I don't really care.

Overall, it's a great phone for what it is. To enjoy the HUGE screen, you will sacrifice a lot of convenience. Unlike samsung galaxy note series, Sony doesn't add unique features to this phone to enhance the user experience. It made you feel like you ARE using a huge screen phone but not much more than that.

Will I switch from note 3? No, personally I think the bigger screen benefit isn't enough to compensate the amount of conveniences I lost.. But that's just me.

        • compared to my gf's note3, the ultra camera is more responsive - you can take a shot instantly without the auto focus taking forever which is the thing that most pisses me off about Samsungs.

And obviously once you go to a giant size screen all other phones are ruined and you can't go back.

    • The only crack I have is the one I was born with on my behind, nothing on my Z1

    • See my comments in the last similar deal. You can do whatever you like with the comments. It is the kind of info I would like to know to research further if I was considering buying it. I had one on order from Sony Center during the last deal and changed my mind after researching cracking issues.

  • If I did not get HTC one M8 yesterday from 15% off ebay deal.

I will definitely get SONY Z1 from this deal :)

  • Thats great price for an Ultra.
I just paid $300 for a used one with no warranty

  • I think the cracked screen issue is greatly exaggerated.
Have three z's since they were first released. 2 are treated really roughly, dropped, slammed on tables often ( bad tempered 16 year old). Shoved in back pockets at sat on.
    No troubles at all.
And this was the model that was meant to have the big problems.

    • Did you have a decent like rubber case for it though?

  • Does it have 1 year or 2 year warranty?
Just asking as the z1 compact (Aussie stock) has 2 years but this is saying 1 year on their site?

  • Dayum, should have waited a bit longer for this Z Ultra deal (purchased one from Kogan 1.5 weeks ago).

  • I have no cracks on mine but do suffer from an unresponsive screen issue. Was suppose to be fixed with KitKat.
