Plantronics Backbeat Go 2 $69 @ MobileCiti - $65.55 with Officeworks Price Match

360

Guys to add to this it looks like http://www.exeltek.com.au/plantronics-backbeat-go-2-headset-… is back in stock. These are $129 in officeworks with case, price matching with exeltek will drop down to $75 - worth a try.

Good price here for the latest edition of the Backbeat GO. Even better if you price match at Officeworks (takes it down from 88 to 65.55)

Just done this in Sydney CBD with no issues - although I wouldn't count on the Pitt St store, none were on display and I had to ask.

Read reviews about the headphones, seem worth it for that price just to gym in. Or even just to add to your collection of other headphones you haven't used yet (cheers Harvey Norman). One day they might come in handy. Maybe dust them off and link to your laptop to play the steam games you will never look at again.

Enjoy!

Note: Link is obviously to the original price.

I've had a pair since they came out. Still going strong. Very nice sound for BT headphones. Great for going for walks. Battery life is OK - probably the only downside. Does have a deep sleep mode which holds charge for a long time.

    • +3

that's encouraging, thanks. Just got them out the box and synced up, dead easy. Was looking at getting the little charging pouch but I will only use them a few hours a week (won't take place of my day to day headphones) and it's the same charger as my HTC One so glad i didn't bother paying the extra.

I think I will hook out some old ear buds though, the ones that came with don't seem to fit too snug.

Guy at work has a pair and says battery life pretty poor, only lasts his commute..
    But they are small.

    • +1

      how long is his commute?!

      • +1

I use these daily at work. Probably get 4 h continuous on moderate volume. Typically mix of pod casts and music

        edit typo

        • I have to confirm: the buds suck butt. Those stock ones that come with Galaxy phones are more comfortable, although bluetooth is bossing

        • A set of Comply Foam tips could help you out. I have a pair of Jaybird Bluebuds which didn't sit well. The replacement tips did a world of a difference.

        • +2

          loads up urban dictionary…

          'sucks butt'

          'bossing'

      • Battery lasts about 1 hour before he starts getting the voice warning saying connect to charger.
I know the maker says 4 hours but he gets nothing like that.
Some people below have a different model that has some charge pouch that increases the battery time but this model isn't the same one.

        • It is the same model - the other one merely comes with a portable charger in the guise of a pouch. These can be bought cheaply everywhere! It doesn't increase battery time, it charges it back up.

It is important to follow charge cycles with items like this - personally as I said elsewhere I am never far from a computer, and keep the gym under an hour so I am not too worried. thanks for the heads up though.

        • perhaps your colleague has the original 'Go', the prior model. Battery was worse on those.

  • +1

Have the BB Go2 with charge case - headphones last around 4 hours before needing a charge. Deffo recommend them.

    • -1

Different model though to this one.

      • same model.

  • +1

Definitely recommend this but with the charging case - good sound for Bluetooth.

If you are worried about battery life, pair with a portable battery charger like this one on sale for $3.46 delivered from TinyDeal:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/150339

    • thanks mate, great suggestion, I already have one similar. To be honest I don't really need it, I am never too far from a cable at home or work, I only take it when I'm traveling.

      • No worries - really do use mine all the time - on the train and also whilst running. I'm even considering getting a second pair to replace these when these fail. Had a Jabra Sport BT and they died within 3 mths - these sounds 10x better. Worth every penny.

  • how about this blueant receiver thing instead?? I'm after BT headphones to use when bike riding, but not keen on in ear buds due to too much external noise isolation, and my ability to kill headphones with sweat.

    http://www.mobileciti.com.au/blueant-ribbon-bluetooth-stream…
    $54…RRP $89. Damn. no stock!

anyway, would be keen to hear opinions of this, or other BT receivers

    • +1

this second version is now sweat resistant, so could be decent. That Blueant Ribbon looks good, never seen it before to be honest but be careful- they are sub $60 on a few sites, don't get suckered by the inflated $90 RRP! But that is still the best price after a quick search. Maybe see what comes up Sunday in the ebay 20% off sale, perhaps Dick smith or Good guys sell it?

I am quite lazy and just do weights - phone will be in zipped gym towel, sorted! I don't think I will be using these as much as the average.

      • cheers. yep $55 seems to be the best going locally. $38.10 from amazon, shipped. hmmmm. reckon I might jump on that.

    • Can highly recommend LG Tone 730 bluetooth headset for convenience. Unfortunately last time purchased them, Amazon would not ship them to Australia, so was forced to use a freight forwarder. Was unable to find them for sale in Australia.

    • In the same boat as you looking for headphones. I think I've decided on aftershockz bluez2. There bone conducting so don't block out surrounding noise. I tried a set of bluez 1 and there great the way they allow you to hear everything around you. Bluez 2 just got released so waiting for them to filter down to Australia. The headphone store in Knox didn't even know there is a new version released, they do however have the bluez 1 if you want to try them out. I don't think there any good for music but great for podcast and phone calls

Jaybird BlueBuds X were my selection in the end, but they are noise isolating so not really suited to your use.
I bought them mainly for the gym/cario as sweat have ruined many sets but these keep kicking. Lifetime warranty against sweat too apparently. 8hr battery life (personally tested close to it) and fantastic sound, and size is not much bigger than standard ear buds.
Little on the pricey side at ~$150 though, but definitely happy with my buy for a rugged set.

      • I'm also happy with the jaybirds bluebuds x.

Sounds like marketing spiel but it suits my running focused lifestyle perfectly

    • My same work colleague uses jarrah sport pro cos the earned ones fall out when he is biking. Says he gets about 5 hours on a charge, pretty good seeing he only gets 1 hour on the back beat 2.

  • +1

Definitely recommended - if you want a good set of BT headset with good sound. I got one with case (charger) from the last sales from Exceltek for $90 incl. delivery.

    • This wasn't in stock yesterday but looks fine now:

      http://www.exeltek.com.au/plantronics-backbeat-go-2-headset-…

Officeworks price match to around $75, bargain! I should list this as a separate bargain but I have not confirmed they will honor this website match - someone try?

      • In my experience they have always honoured on-line prices. Understandably, they always check the shipping cost and include it in the pre-match total price.

      • can you give me a photo of the officeworks receipt?

I have been using Nokia BH-505. Highly recommended.

    http://www.nokia.com/global/products/accessory/bh-505/

Claimed battery life of 10 hours' talk time, and close to that in real-world usage in my experience.

NFC-enabled. Just touch an NFC phone to connect even when powered OFF. No pairing hassles.

I'm not an audiophile, though. Can't comment on audio quality. It's fine for me.

    • Looks good, but where is the price?

      • +1

        $21.19 on amazon one left

        • +1

Thanks mate. Its a great Price and deal in itself. but quantities are quite less. Bought one with free shipping ($23.45). Earlier bought the Plantronics Go and their battery life is only 3-4 hours. Painful to put in ears and frequently fall out.

          Hope these ones are genuine.

        • Yep, I bought a Nokia one as well. Hope they're good! (thanks to you for recommending me!)

        • NP. More impulse purchase :). Dont know about Go2, but Go are a bit to fit in ears.
My order says shipped in amazon. But nokia ones look great.

        • @Food: Did you get your item? Still waiting :( Is it original?

  • +3

Good price, I bought mine @officeworks for $75 3 month ago. The good thing about this headphone is decent sound but the bad the Bluetooth phone receiver is pretty crap and it doesn't hold on to your ears especially if you're doing exercise.

    • thanks for your comment. I was considering whether I should buy this for my runs but not anymore.

    • I've changed the ear buds (didn't use the 3 sizes that came with it) and they are snug now. Yet to run with them though..

  • these are decent headphones, not amazing quality for buds, but decent.
They are even better with the charging case as the battery in these are quite small.

  • this or Lg Tone+?

  • +1

bought these last weekend, and find the headphones pretty good, noise cancellation is great
def go for the charging case, its only an extra $10, almost same price as amazon.com
officeworks have the headphones with charging case at $129, with pricematch it comes roughly $75

  • can anyone post a receipt from Officeworks confirming the price match?

    • I can tonight when I'm home if you like. Will link on here.

  • You can get a better deal at exeltek
Difference is white colour and with charging pouch
    http://www.exeltek.com.au/plantronics-backbeat-go-2-headset-…
Just get a price match at officeworks for better price

    • Yeah that's what I have been commenting and have added to listing. That deal wasn't in stock when I went in so had to use mobileciti. Def worth a go with exeltek, $75 with charging pouch is excellent.

Pitch in my reviews on BT headphones.

I use daily a Philips SHB9100 BT headphones.
They are a great to be honest, the battery life isn't too bad on them. I probably charge them maybe every 4 days, that is with about 2.5hrs each day in commute.
Sound is good and the cushioning on the ears is fine as well. You can rotate the speakers so that you can adjust it better to your head but also so it can be placed flat in something (sadly the headband part doesn't fold up).
    http://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/SHB9100_00/on-ear-black

My gym BT earphones are the Jaybird Freedom Sprints.
I looked at all the possible BT sets for gym use and in the end it came down to 3 different units, the JB Freedom Sprint, JB Bluebud X and the Plantronics set mentioned above. Based on reviews made my decision up and I got the JBFS from Amazon for about $120.
The earphones come with a hard carrying case, 3 different sized rubber ear bits, an option for a rubber hook bit that keeps the earphones in your ear or a rigid plastic over ear one like the back of a pair of glasses.
It has a special charging port on them so you have to use their cable but charge will last about 6 hours from my use.
There is a control set on the right hand earphone with the ability to pickup calls, skip songs etc.
Overall really happy with them, they are a bit bulky compared to the Bluebud X and the Plantronics but if you don't care about styling I do recommend these.
    https://www.jaybirdsport.com/freedom-sprint-bluetooth-headph…

    • "3 different sized rubber ear bits, an option for a rubber hook bit that keeps the earphones in your ear " - these Backbeat Go2 also have the same feature and accessories.

6 hours is good, but 4.5hrs will get me through a week of gyming and that's fine for me. It also came with a USB charger that has a built in piggy back USB slot, so I can charge my phone and the headphones with 1 plug, nice little surprise there.

Just tried voice dialing, the commands are really clear and worked first time on these headphones. My friend told me about the Jaybirds, which actually got me in to browsing around for in-ear BT headphones. At $65 price point, I see them as a nice little extra to my usual in-ear headphones. If I was going to use them as my primary and only earphones, maybe I would look at $100+ models

  • Price matched OW but had to also pay the shipping cost so I paid ~$72.

    • Really? Didn't happen with me! I've pricematched a few things at OW and shipping was never a factor, it doesn't say that in the small print does it?

I think I would have told them to shove it out of principle and gone with Mobileciti.

      • shipping is added if the deal is online only or the retailer does not have a physical store or is out of stock. It is mentioned in OW price match policy.

  • thanks for the update. Mobileciti you can pick up (they have a store) which is probably why they didn't charge delivery for me. They shouldn't have for you if you price matched with mobileciti too..

If it is out of stock I didn't think they price matched at all.

If battery life is important, check out Sony DR-BTN200 (aka DRB-TN200). They are rated at 40 hours and I can confirm this as about right.

The sound quality is impressive (bluetooth or not) after a relatively short break-in period. I would describe the sound as balanced, punchy with a nice tight but not overpowering bass and a good size sound field.

I own and use 5 pairs of wireless headphones (not all at the same time!) and these stack up well. If I was pressed to make a direct comparison, I'd say they sound better than Sennheiser RS170, but not quite as good as RS180.

They have a ton of functionality including NFC, which works a treat, and a 3 stage battery indicator. Phone controls as well, of course (but no mute button). The comfort is very high.

I paid $80 and they sound better than many wired and featureless headphones at this price.

A word of warning though, they are on-ear, so may not suit those looking for low insulation. They don't fold and don't come with a bag, but feel very solid, and being Sony can withstand a reasonable degree of abuse. I bought a decent hard case for $10 on eBay for storage / travel, but it's probably not necessary.

  • These headphones are pretty good. Synced to my laptop and I'm able to walk around the entire house with a signal. Quality isn't the greatest in the world but for gym these are going to be a treat. I changed the cups on mine with ones from my Note 2 Phone and they fit great. You need to use the stabiliser thingies which push against your ear and help keep them in. I can shake my head like a mad dog and they don't fall out.

    8/10 would purchase again :)

  • Just got these at JB-HI Westfield Centerpoint at Sydney CBD for $79. They had a few of these hanging on the shelves where the iphone accessories are. Initially the lady wasn't willing to price match citing it is an online store and not a brick and mortar store however I showed her the address of Exeltek, she did a scan on the pda and was happily cross out the $129 price tag. :)

    • Why?
      $69 # $79.

      • +1

$79 with the charging case at Exeltek

  • The OP for the heads up. I just picked up a pair from Mobiciti. I had a white pair and they worked really well and was happy with these and the wireless convenience. Wife ended up taking those for use so was looking for a replacement. Great price.

  • Hi guys, I'm interested in buying a pair and was wondering if anyone had ideas of shortening the cable? The jaybird ones have the x fit cord management clip http://www.jaybirdstore.com/Store/Accessories/BBXCM03
