It wasn't advertised in the normal weekly catalogue for WA as well. This seems to be a weekend special, so im not sure if its on sale in other states. If it is, post it up on here to spread the news :)

I know this brand is highly rated amongst this community but personally i think it's highly overrated. Occasionally when i do purchase ice-cream my flavor of choice is cookies and cream and i would rate Streets/Bulla/Blue ribbon above Connoisseur and the Aldi brand even higher. It seems that anything that comes in black packaging nowadays makes the product inside seem premium.

Another good example is Tresemme shampoo, regular price is around $10 a bottle! but the quality of the shampoo isn't even worth $3, no wonder it's on special at 50% off just about every week. I use and recommend Natures Organics Shampoo that doesn't contain any extra chemicals then the bare essentials and costs less then $4 a bottle.

I understand but don't agree. Streets and Peters etc whip too much air in the ice cream. Makes it cheaper to make and it seems creamier because of the air and not the quality.
I find Sara Lee to be the best and would guess that one litre of Sara Lee would be two litres of streets because of the air streets adds.

Shampoo is a different kettle of fish and is way over priced.

    • I agree entirely… sometimes. LOL.
Some noname products are dynamite. Cheapest, plain old-fashioned ingredients. Ice cream & butter shortbread biscuits can be examples. Or they CAN be crap.

I would simply repeat my life motto: "Don't Buy The Hype!"

Give it a go. But be honest with your tastebuds & budget. Small % better isn't worth 2x or 3x $.

    • It was good when it was made in WA.

      • I agree, a shadow of its former self. Tastes far too industrial now and you can tell they have tried to reduce the cost by the way the product tastes. Years ago in the 90s they had a flavour called butter pecan from memory. so unbelievably creamy. sometimes i dream.

You have no taste buds. Blue ribbon icecream is one of the worst going around, uneatable these days.

      • has always been inedible IMHO. Always preferred Bulla.
I try to never buy fluffed-up commercial icecream.

Why on earth are they allowed to sell an aerated product by volume ?
Should definitely be sold by weight, like almost everything else.

    • "my flavor of choice is cookies and cream and i would rate Streets/Bulla/Blue ribbon above Connoisseur"

You really, really, really need your taste buds checked then.
The other brands version of C&C are watery and too light (as PVA mentioned) let alone lacking flavour.
      But hey, each their own!

+1 Only for Cafe Grande flavour.

Love this icecream. Unfortunately not available at this price in my local IGA in Sydney today. Wah.

  • I think Aldi's Monarc Indulge ice cream and Connoisseur are from the same manufacturer. They are nearly the same in taste and texture. Only Connoisseur has more different flavors.

The butterscotch and gingerbread one is really good.

    • +1, they ran out of cookies n cream, so we bought this flavour tonight. Just had it for dessert and its really good!
Edit: can confirm it's $4.99 for all flavours.

Ww Select Hokey Pokey 2L is surprisingly good for a "middle of the road" ice cream.

    • Was wondering! Will try it, relive the good old days.

I hope there is stock in Sydney.

    Cheers.

i got my wisdom teeth out so ill be eating this for lunch, thank you OP!

  • you guys have not tasted ice cream, until you taste the salted caramel murry river flavour Connoisseur iced cream. might be SA only though.

It's nice, but I don't like how they have decided to make a bunch of extra "wanky" flavours in only 500ml and still charge $7+ for them.

    • Maggie Beer ice cream kills them all but it's oh so pricey, for speshul occasions only.

  • Cookies & Cream. Yum.
