They can be bought from ebay for about $90 and more.
Amazon has them from over $300.
Thats the cheapest for the price.
Can be good computer speakers.
Not bad for the price

Speakers don't really age in the same way as 'tech', so don't take age into account, only sound quality.
by chance do you know how they would compare to the yamaha nx-50 speakers also on catch of the day. cheers
Sorry can't compare. But price for Yamaha is more than double for what you pay for JBL.
Why you no link OP?
Sorry Just fixed the link.
these will poop on Logitech LS21's which are about the same price.
I'm happy to be the first person to actually give this post a +1.
I have a JBL Spyro 2.1 in my drawer collecting the dust, very similar like this. Bought it ages ago. The sound quality is fairly good and loud enough, but I have bought too many speakers. Good price for those need a normal 2.1 speakers.
Thanks OP.. ordered one.. $38.95 with shipping but I was wondering why it doesn't have "expect to pay or don't pay $…..".
May be because they can't compare it with any local dealer's price at the moment.
Can i be a club catch member now ? If yes, thn how ? Pls help. Dnt want to pay more shipping fee thn actual product price :p lol
it costs you like $79 to be a club catch member…

Just a note on $300 pricing…
The price on amazon seems to be an anomaly since these speakers really are old stuff. Third-party vendors are selling them for a ridiculous sum and the vendor selling it for $300 mentions "ADAPTER FROM JBL TO computer missing (mini plug to mini plug)", LOL http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000M39268/ref=dp_olp… . The review here http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/jbl-spot-powe… seems to suggest they were selling for $130 USD at their prime and it's mentioned in the review that they sounded inferior to the JBL Creature II (the JBL Creature III seems to be the successor to the Creature II and is selling now on Amazon for 87.50 USD http://www.amazon.com/JBL-Creature-III-Self-Powered-Multimed… ). Just putting things in perspective.
Anyway, for $30 (+ delivery costs) it's good value. Hopefully the knuckle-draggers at COTD won't give you grief if you have issues with them.
I paid about $250 for these six or so years ago, they literally died a month ago.
Not bad, but no mid at all as you'd expect for tiny 2.1s
Awesome speakers. Awesome price.
deal is still available as I write this but heading says "expired"
was gonna pull the trigger, but these are a really old product (for tech anyway) are there better options for similar pricing?
