Wow, VERY good pricing, +1 to OP and hope it goes well :-)

  • Nice gesture - thanks

  • Grewat price for Brisbane locals.
Any Sydney repair places want to take up the gauntlet? There is an iphone 4 with a cracked screen on my shelf.

    • I am getting a an LG G2 screen replaced by iphone doctor at chatswood. While their quote was expensive ($250), I asked what the price would be if I provided my own screen and he said $45. iPhone 4 screens can be had for about $40 on ebay. While it's not $50 like this deal, still not too bad.

Despite them quoting $250 for parts and labour, I found a screen for my wifes G2 for $55 online, and getting it installed for $45, so $100 not to bad (although it would have been better if she hadn't dropped it a week after I bought it in the first place!)

Keep in mind that 3rd party repairs invalidate any warranty and options for service in the future from Apple.

like we care? even iphone 5 is like nearly 2yo now.

Extremely good pricing! Unlike the sydney people always get ripped off

    • How much would apple charge for a new screen to keep the warranty? Do you keep your phone and they do it while you wait or does it get sent away and you get a refurbished one back?

      • $179 for iPhone 5 display replacement.

And I'm not saying you should care. Simply stating a point that some people might not know.

    • not like Apple will replace your screen for free or cheap under warranty anyway…

    do you do nexus 5?

    • I need to know this too, 1 have 2 broken screens :(

    • sure do - depending on what's wrong with it?

      • Awesome. Smashed screen. How much are they?

  • Can you fit a new home button? If so how much?

    Thanks

  • How about Samsung Note II ?

  • Why is the iPhone 5 screen replacement cheaper than the iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C??? Isn't is the same screen?

    • +1

It might be a more complicated procedure, hence extra labour costs.

    • the screen is the same and looks the same. The connectors are different. A little bit more complicated with the 5S and 5C. The main reason it is more is simply the screen costs more :)

  • Can you repair first generation ipad Screens?

    • what's the model number on the back of the iPad.

  • iPod 4th generation, in Sydney, anyone?

  • Hope I dont need this one for a while :)

  • Hi Rep, do you do ipad repair?

    • sure do - check out my website. iPad repairs take about 3 hours though.

  • What's your best price to replace a broken lock button on an iphone 4?

If your keen on fixing it yourself, part is $1 on ebay and you gain a new skill. Take the $24 saved to the bank or spend it somthing other than fixing your phone.

  • If your tech savy or can follow instructions, you can buy the part of ebay and replace it yourself. Costs about $16 for a iphone 4s lcd, probably can get it even cheaper now, price differs for other models. I have done it before, had no experience just followed the youtube video.

It's pretty tricky though. I just had a look at the iphone 4 instructions and there are a lot of steps.
      https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPhone+4+Display+Assembly+Repla…

Is it worth the extra $30 to get somebody who has done it multiple times before? I reckon compared to the risk of mucking it up it probably is.

      • Not for everyone, just an option. First time I did it, took me about 2 hours, and I never did anything like it before, but after I did it, could do it in half an hour. Wouldn't recommend it on a newer phone or someone who has poor eye sight, need to strain your eyes because it all so small, and the iphone 4 is fairly old so not much of a loss if stuffed up and although not sure of the market value of a iphone 4, I am sure there not worth alot now days, so a replacement wouldn't of be to much. Where I am as well its about $80 plus to get one fixed.

In relation to stuffing it up, there is not alot that can go wrong, other than losing pieces or being too rough with components, if your methodical and careful you should be fine. Once your done take the $34+ you save to the bank or spend it on somthing you like other than fixing a phone.

the very reason iphone/ipad repairers charge an arm and a leg is why i learnt to do these repairs myself, now i save my family and friends heaps doing this for them.

i order the part, they pay for it and i ask for $10 for my time, better than the prices they are getting quoted for excessive labour costs that come with a $30 screen..

a few months ago i didnt even know how to do these, thankgod for youtube and now ive done already 20 phones/tablets from Apple iphones 4, 5 & 5s, to Samsung galaxy 2, 3 & 4 and ipads 2, 3 & 4.
