Credit Card Scamming

Hi,

Yesterday I found some dubious looking purchase authorisations from scbiller.com, keeperctr.com, lanot, chbill.com, dcbiller.com, just to name a few. It totals a few hundred dollars and the bank will refund the money. They are sending me a letter to sign, along with a new credit card.

I have only used this credit card in Oz - Sydney and Melb. Never in an ATM and never online. It was only used for general purchases (supermarket etc), larger payments from retailers and even larger payments (medical etc).

Has anyone had any experiences like mine? How did it go? How did the bank handle things? Is there anything I need to do (ie. shake an angry fist, flash a brown-eye) for the bank to pay me the full amount?

The irony is that my other bank - credit union - is where I abuse my credit card for online payments, overseas, etc and have never had a problem. Am I just lucky with this?

Comments appreciated.

    You say this:

It totals a few hundred dollars and the bank will refund the money

    but then you say this:

Is there anything I need to do (ie. shake an angry fist, flash a brown-eye) for the bank to pay me the full amount?

So, are you saying that the bank are only going to refund some of the money? Did they say why?

    Or am i misunderstanding something?

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I should have been clearer.

Yes the bank said they would refund the money but that was one department. The fraud dept didn't go so far as to say that. They said they would send out a slip for me to sign next week. Presumably this is a stat dec of some sort. I didn't ask ask at the time as didnt think to. This is the first time this has happened to me and for now I'm waiting it out.

On Thursday evening I paid my credit card off and after payment noticed here were 6 or so debits ranging in amounts from a dollar to over 70. That was when I called the bank as per previous paragraph. Card got cancelled same time.

Yesterday I logged in and saw that my credit card was 40 dollars in credit. Wondering why when I paid the full amount the day before i checked the details. At that time I saw that there were 4 different debits in addition to the ones the day before. Oddly the 6 debits from the day before were not on the account but for some reason I'm 40 dollars ahead. Confused i called the bank again. Fraud dept was on top of the new debits (totalling araround 100 dollars) but the guy I spoke to couldn't tell me why I was in credit. He just said that i overpaid the crefit card.

The amount that I paid back total the amountsI owed including the unauthorised debits.

Hence my comment about fist shaking.

Things just don't add up but for now I will be patient until the bank has finished at their end.

Yes I have screen shots of both days of unauthorised debits for my records. That will also help of I need to take things futher.

So has anyone else had a similar situation.

Hope this is a bit clearer.
