Let's hope it's still there today. Kogan pulled off about 15 phones including the white version of this Nexus. Don't forget the 2% cashback to bring it to $313.60

  • +1

I'm very cautious with this. I would rather wait until someone actually proves that the discount can be applied to these mobiles and tablets that are sold by Kogan. By the way, thanks op.

  • Nvm

  • -1

dupe!? is already mentioned in the last post

  • +3

    Should list this too.

the LG G Pro 2 is a very similar phone with same screen size (possibly faster) and will be $352.80 during the eBay sale tomorrow: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LG-G-Pro-2-D838-16GB-Black-/16137…

    • +5

      5.9" compared to the Nexus 5's 5"

      • +2

Yes, and also has 3GB RAM (vs 2GB for N5) and also has a MicroSD slot (vs no slot for N5).

    • +1

thanks got myself one of those hate anything without expandable memory

      • +1

Same. Just pulled the trigger myself. Held off on the Nexus 5 the other day because of no SD slot.

        • +2

Does g2 support full 4g in Australia? Looks like only support 2 frequency for Kogan one?

  • -7

Nexus 6 will be out later this year, this is not worth it.

    • Well last year, October, Google Store put the 16gb Nexus 4 at $299. They probably will do something similar this time around too.

Still not sure whether there will be a Nexus 6 since it annoys the other android makers when they do it. But assuming it does come out at $399 in a few months, it could be worth the wait. Kogan would probably sell it at around $430 but who knows if another 20% off ebay deals pops up again to bring the price down to around $340~

      • -1

Google reduced the price in first week of September last year, not October.

    • +4

All those moments will be lost in time

      • Almost every product will have new version this year.

      • +2

        …like tears in rain.

        Jeez I love that movie.

  • Hehe, my $400 iPad Air is looking good :P

Fantastic prices for the Nexuses though

  • Is kogan reliable though? I have never used it, but it seems a little dodgy. Any thoughts?

    • It's hit and miss. Their warranty and customer support is atrocious. If you want to get a 100% fully functional phone that works as intended from the day you receive it there's a high chance you'll be disappointed if you purchase from them.

      • +3

I've had no issues with 4 phones I've bought. Galaxy S4 had battery issue, they sent a new one without fuss and received promptly.

        • Does their shipping usually take the 2-3 weeks they specify or do they deliver quicker?

        • @stingymonkey: I received my iPhone in a week from Hong Kong in last sale.

        • Kogan slow? Think molasses :) that means yes.
Have waited 1 month for an iPad… Better than 3 months at bigw though !!

        • @stingymonkey:
I'm still waiting on my iPad mini from the last sale

        • during last sale they delivered in a week even though they mentioned delivery period from 23jul-3aug

  • +5

Nexus 5's battery sucks compared to LG G2.

  • +1

Has anyone actually received the cashback from the last eBay sale into their CR acc?

    • Yes

      • Recently? 'Available rewards' & not 'rewards balance'?

I still have 5 purchases from 21/29 Jun in pending status. How long does it take to process?

        • it depends on when the merchants decide to approve and verify the purchases. I suspect you are referring to the Ebay kogan 20% off Sale? Mine is still pending but I suppose it may take some time.

        • @fchis:

          Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, I bought a few things from the 20% & the 15% off sales respectively.

Reassuring to know I'm not the only one still waiting.

        • @grab_ur_freebies:

          Cheers :)

        • +1

You'll get them at the very least after the refund process, i.e. 45 days.

        • I just checked mine and i got the refund. Date was on the day I bought it from kogan. it was a small amount of $32.

        • Oh, rewards balance. Mine's still pending as well.

  • +1
  • +1

Those DSLR cameras from Kogan seem to be good as well

  • No early leaks this time. eBay have wizened up.

  • +1

for 360 odd dollars the Z1 and the Z1 compact seems to be a great deal as well, not to mention an 64gb iPhone 5S for the price of an 16 gb (still not as good as last deal though)

    • Paid $505 for my Z1 compact as a way to get from IOS to Android without jumping up in phone size too much.
      I love it.
Got the wife the iPhone 5s in the last deal and she is thinking we should sell it and get another compact so we have the same phones again.

If you want a smaller Android phone this is awsome.

  • +3

Nexus 5 rocks for those that are wondering. Favourite phone I've ever had.

    • +1

Wholeheartedly agree. I upgraded from the original Note (which I loved) and was blown away by how nice it was to be rid of Samsung's bloatware. Dont get me wrong - Sammy's devices are excellent - but the stock Android is marvellous. Not to mention the Nexus 5 feels fantastic in your hand, that slightly rubberised back gets me goin'.

    • +1

The LG G2 and G2 Pro blow Nexus 5 out of water :)

      • +1

        Second that.

Battery life alone makes it better than the N5. Add the superior camera and there's no need to even consider the N5.

      • +1

" Blow Nexus 5 out of water " LOL. Slight overstatement there, all great phones, just splitting hairs there. Personal preference, each to their own though I say. Um, clean skin, fast updates, and will get updated till well into second half of 2015.

  • Would not recommend n5 until they fix my damn battery drain issue with 4.4.5. 100% to 70% overnight without touching it.

    • +2

Your problem is obviously that you're running a newer version than the rest of the world.

My own N5 running 4.4.4 with ART runtime lasts the whole day and loses very little overnight.

      • I mean I'm on 4.4.4, and there have been known reported issues. So I'm hoping they can fix it in the next release.

    • +2

no issues here, overnight 54% to 53%

      • Was playing around with the settings and n5 can no longer boot LOL… so I did a factory reset (good time now since I've got battery draining issues anyway, might as well start out new)… ensured I disabled all the useless apps, turned off sync, turned off gps/nfc, etc. etc., installed Greenify and some battery monitor app. It seems it's much better now. Just have to be very careful now…

        • yeah greenify is good I've heard - though just be careful installing 'battery monitoring and saving apps' most of them do the opposite (drain the battery).

        • +1

@beaver2233: thanks. I got the batterydrain app, it doesnt show % by app but it shows %/hour at realtime and i think it doesnt drain my batt.

    • If you can wait for Android L, it will be worth it imo. I've been using Android L preview for a few weeks and have found battery to be much better. I've seen my Nexus 5 last 3 days.

      Highly recommend this phone.

  • Good to note that the delivery is after Aug 18th but you may receive it earlier as I got my iPad Air from the previous sale 2 weeks before the delivery date mentioned

  • Does anyone know eh model number of the iPad Air cellular?

I need he A1490 that supports worldwide lte bands

    • +2

It's very unlikely to be the A1491— that's only sold in mainland China.

Presuming it's from Hong Kong it should be the A1490 just like it is in AU, US, EU etc.

      • Thanks mate.

  • Do you guys think there is a chance that we buy these phones and ebay sends a "We are very sorry, but these things are clearly not toys, so they don't qualify" email?

From the offer's T&C on ebay:
"Toys means children’s toys, for example items listed in the following categories on eBay.com.au: Toys & Hobbies, Video Games & Consoles, Toys 0-12 months (in Baby), Children’s Books (in Books, Magazines), Toys (in Collectables) and Dolls, Bears."

    • +1

I've seen young children with iPads, iPhones and other tablets and phones. It's arguable they are kids toys :P

  • I am actually looking at the Nexus 5 for my 11 yr old son, so yes, it is a toy.
    Cheers,
    Varun

    • We are not talking your own personal interpretation here. What the ebay T&C class it as. Fickle rules sometimes.

  • What is the code? Anyone?

    • +1

      Yes, the code works?

      • +2

    Code is live - $320 for N5.

    • +1

      Yeah :)
      352.28 for LG G pro 2

  • +1

    Thanks OP.
    Bought Nexus 7 2gen 16GB for $206.40

  • Thanks. Bought LG G2 and NOTE III N9005 32 GB

  • Thanks, picked up the DSE deal for the PS4. Now I need to find a game to get…

  • Apple iPad Air (16GB, Cellular, Silver) $540.80 - remove link.
    Now showing as $676

    • +3

$540.80 is after the 20% off.

  • Is the iPad mini a good deal? Nobody is talking about it. I know it's not retina, have bought one for my 12yo daughter for using in school - I'm hoping she doesn't need retina for that, or have I just made a bad purchase? :P

    • +1

theres 1 left of ipad mini with retina.

      edit: gone now.

      • +1

Probably a good thing, b'coz I was considering it ;)

I didn't want to spend much and for my daughters use I think the low (kinda crappy) resolution should still do the job.

Probably in the running for cheapskate dad award but $262 fits the budget.

        • +1

I would not call an ipad mini a cheapskate purchase for a 12yo to take to school. You just bought a educational learning tool/toy worth around $350-$400 which for a lot people is a big chunk if not half of their weekly income. There is only one model, same brand that is newer and more advanced on some aspects. Most kids 12yo would have to settle for less.

        • @ozhunter68:

Thank you for easing my mind :)

I had reached the same conclusion on both points:
          a) technical features (daughter would unlikely notice the difference between retina/non-retina nor care)
          and
          b) not being a cheapskate (may not win dad of the year but she could do a lot worse :D)

And I just fixed her old Nexus 7 which has gotten the dead/wont power up bug, so I feel like I just saved some more cash (as I was going to have to replace it so the kids could both have tablets in the car for long trips). Feeling good.

  • +1

Yea! Bought 2 Nexus 5, one for son, and one for myself!
    Cheers,

  • +3

Notepro 12.2 for $532.80 less than half jb price of $1098

    • I picked on up. Doesn't have the AMOLED of the new Tab S but still good.

    • I don't need another tablet but I'm tempted at this price.

  • +1

Thanks, just got myself a LG G Pro 2 D838 should be a nice upgrade from my Samsung S3

    • +2

In the same boat, wondering if I should upgrade from my S3…

      Decisions decisions

      Someone sell me on it?

  • +3

It's times like this that I wish I needed a new phone.
Got a Xperia Z Ultra a few months ago for $399.

  • +1

Awesome, I just grabbed a Nexus 7 2013 for $200. I was umming and ahhing about getting a Samsung TabPRO 8.4, but for this price I just couldn't not get it. The LG G PRO 2 is an awesome phone, but it's missing some Telstra bands that I would would need. But that being said, it's an awesome phone for people who use other networks.

    • Ah thanks I will watch out for that with the LG G2 - I have been on the lookout

      • Which Telstra bands are missing? I assume for 4G yeah?
