  • thats cheap it was 499 at jbhi beginning of the year

  • yeah 2x 1tb u can use a jbod and use it as 2tb great drives i have 1… great for mirror raids …at this price might get another

Take that to Officeworks and get them to pricematch it, bringing it down to $331.55.

when it was 499 at jb i took it to officework to match it they couldnt do it… i took it to harvey it was 399 so i went to jb to match it and they gave me 100bux back

  • Hi, I saw one cheaper, 1 day ago from www.anypc.com.au
    Price $300
It is called "Supermax 2TB …", anyway in their first page.

    • It only 1 hard drive not 2 mirrored!

      • Its two drives with mirroring as default, when i purchased mine it was already setup with mirroring so its 1TB capacity.

Great drives and surprisingly not too bad on speed through USB2 but shame there is no other interfaces to use but i guess thats why they have the Studio Edition.

We are going to be seeing allot of lower price's over the next few months on everything in general!

Due entirely to our strong Aussie dollar! 20% OFF EVERYTHING!!! of new stock in stores! 64c US back then VS $84c US NOW

Could everyone please keep this in mind before this site is flooded with deals!! that are not deals at all and just new prices and the current import exchange rate!

      Hmmmm,, I understand your logic vid_ghost, but…
If an item reduces in cost to a new low price point, that is a bargain regardless of the cause.
If/as prices become lower still, OzBargainers can/will bring it to the attention of the community.

How is it a bargain if its just a new RRP? RRP isn't a bargain, even if it is lower than before. Everything goes down in price over time.

        • If I can buy it today cheaper than I can buy it yesterday, for me as a customer, it's a bargain. As a customer I don't care if it's because it's on sale or cheaper aussie dollar, as long as I know that I'm spending less, I'm happy. Of course everything gets cheaper over time, and on that logic, you would vote negative for everything because it will be cheaper in 12 months time.

But today's price compared to yesterday's price, if its cheaper, it's a bargain :)

          • @SydGuy:everything gets cheaper over time
(Sadly,) that's a pretty safe truism for consumer electronics, which, let's face it, are luxury goods,,, but,, the staples of our western lifestyle - food / rates / power / insurance(the white man's burden) - i.e. the non-concessional expenditure of our daily existence most certainly continues to increase in price…

I've depressed myself now, so I'll get down off my soap-box and have a cup of tea, a Bex and a good lie down.

            Live Long and ….
            … well, Live Long anyway,

When the aussie was at 98cUS a Core 2 Duo E8400 CPU was at $200bux
When it dropped to 64cUS the same CPU 5 months later cost $300bux

Time doesn’t change prices as quick as exchange rates :) but if the price is lower the next day then that’s a good thing.. Weather its a bargain or not its for the individual to decide…I say this is just an ok deal" :)

  • Vid_host , we're all bargain hunters (the keyword is "bargain").

so when a deal is "just ok", it will just be a waste time.

  • Suerkieu"… rose5 found the same thing for $300 a day ago … thats why this one is JUST OK! NOT a bargain .. the anypc.com.au
Price of $300 was a bargain

  • :) anyways.. a single WD 2TB drive can be had for $307 at citysoftware.. whack that in a $25 USB case and walla .. you have a better deal then this one!

For those of you considering this to create 2tb of space in raid 0 array - I just went through the agony of attempting to reconstruct the data from a single drive failure (mechanical). Be aware that it is next to impossible to reconsruct data in a raid 0 array if one of the drives fails mechanically, so make sure you are happy to lose the data. If I'd used mine mirrored (I had an older 2x500gb drive my book) I'd have been fine. (Actually, I'm planning to use the my book case with 2x2tb drives, for a mirrored 2tb capacity… when the prices come down on 2tb drives, that is!)

  • jassep thats the reason i listed the WD2TB with a USB case as a better deal… its doesnt just cost less it's reduces point of failure by 1
