JB Hi-Fi price policy

Hi

Does JB Hifi has a "If you find a lower advertised price, you'll be refunded the difference" price policy, similar to some of the other retailers?
I can't find anything on their webpage.

I've bought several electronic items from them lately and discovered a few days later that it could be bought much cheaper elsewhere.
I felt absolutely ripped off and was discouraged from buying from them again.
surely they should live up to the claim of "Always Cheapest Prices"
Thanks.

  • You should have done your research before committing to buy something. There is ALWAYS someone who is willing to go cheaper, depending on who and the time of the month. If they point a gun at your head and DEMAND that you pay $x, then yes it is understandable you felt 'ripped off' as you didn't had a choice. But you did have a choice, just that you made a poor one resulted in you paying a higher price.

  • I agree with moo. "Always cheapest prices" seems to me within the realm of puffery, so caveat emptor on that one.

  • JB hi-fi used to be good, until the last year or so where they have increased the prices ridiculously.
My advice would be one of the following
    1) go in there with a price in mind, offer it to the rep and see if he'll take it. i.e. barter.
    2) find a friend who works there and they will give you a very low price for it.

  • JB used to be no nonsense lowest prices - eg, couldnt barter much lower than sticker price and they were already cheap.

These days, depending on who you speak to you can still get a low price but you have to haggle for it.

  • Best thing. Find a retail park with all the big boys: JB, DS, HN, GGs, etc (whatever they are in your area) and make it clear what you are after and what you are willing to pay (give something unreasonably low!)

I tried it today. 30m $120 Monster cable. HN offered $75 after I said my budget was $50!
