    any bargains ?

  • Last month there was 30% off, though it excluded ebooks and audiobooks. So for some this would be a step backwards.

    • I used it for the Wii U pro controller… :)

      That was a good deal…

    • True enough, but that code has expired so you really can't compare.

  • Good time to buy Game of Thrones Pop up Guide to Westoros
from $62 to $50.21, nice bargain

I've received an alternate 20% off code for September "BW-SEPT" in one of the book they sent out. Only valid for books, excludes eBook. No mention of audiobook.

These guys have awful customer service! Probably not an issue if your order goes through OK, but just putting it out there, buyer beware!

I placed two orders during the 30% off last month. Two days later, I received emails stating that my orders had been cancelled as they couldn't source the items to fulfill my order, and that I'd receive my refunds (and refund confirmation emails) "shortly."

I just remembered earlier this week that I never received any refund. Unfortunately, their Contact Us page is actually an FAQ that tries its best to obscure how to actually contact them, and there was no clear way to get in contact about refunds.

Instead, I fired off a message through their feedback form stating that I would like to be notified by the end of this week when I would receive my refunds and to receive my refunds by the end of next week given that it's already been three weeks since being told refunds would be coming "shortly."

Guess what? It's now the end of the week and I haven't received any response from them apart from a confirmation that they've received my "feedback" enquiry and that it'll be responded to as soon as possible.

I'm now taking it through the PayPal dispute resolution process since Bookworld's customer service is non-existent!

    • Same here, have had absolutely NO response to my urgent contacts re my uni book not turning up. How dare they take my money before sending the item.
Will take up a dispute and also make a very clear complaint on their Facebook site.

      • you can always do a charge-back on your credit card…

just keep a log of all the contacts you have made…

      • To be fair, most online companies take your money before sending the item.

    • I had the same exact situation as you happen to me. I could find no direct way to contact them other than that terrible online "message" system. After dozens of "contact your administrator" type errors with the online messaging system (which also lost entire message each time so had to type in out again and again - hint type the message in a text application and then copy it into fields when ready to send) it finally went through and I received a confirmation email that they received my message but that email could not be replied to either.

After another week of waiting with no response, I was about to open a paypal dispute but found an old invoice from a previous order that had a 1800 number, so I called it. This allowed me to contact and actual human being and the issue was sorted in 10 minutes. Of course they made the usual "we just upgraded out entire computer system last week and it is taking a bit to catch up" etc……..

      Try calling 1800 732 701.

Interestingly, my latest physical invoice does not have this contact number, only the old one I found had it. I really don't like how a lot of companies make it almost impossible to contact them directly these days via phone or event real email.

  • So thanks for the phone number BUT! I tried several times yesterday and was left on hold for a very long time, eventually it diverted to an answering machine, so I left an urgent message, I need the textbook for a Uni course that started some weeks ago!
No reply, of course, so phoned again just now, the message now says they are closed due to unforeseen circumstances, but you can leave a message. Pressed 1, and guess what — disconnected.
What can I do now? Kiss my $50 goodbye and try to find another supplier - I think the only other one I saw was in the UK….
