Aren't these usually around $20 for an 8 pack on sale?

    • "Limited Edition" chocolate eneloops, that the reason for price difference, were listed at $99 on their ebay page

      • Poo price for poo coloured batteries :]

No offence to anyone intended, just couldn't resist.

  • How is almost $30 for a packet of these a bargain?
We used to get them for $20 a packet. Are those days gone??

  • i guess the colours makes all the difference? extra $5

everyone knows that chocolate give you more energy.

    • Sorry new to the eneloop game, looking at previous deals and comments.. looks like its really the colour that makes the difference!

      • +2

look at "recharge up to xxxx times" eg tropical = 1800 times, chocolate = 2100 times

        • +3

yer ok.. SO if you charge once per month the batteries will last either 150 years or 175 years.

I dont think that will make much of a difference to me…

Jacked up the price on eBay so high to $100 probably so no one would buy it probably to reserve stock for a sale. I have a suspicion that they're going to be offering this $25 price too on eBay soon.

    No Deal!
I have never paid over $20 for 8 of these.

What for limited edition Chocolat colour AA Panasonic Eneloops?. Since when did you get 8 of those limited edition batteries for $20?.

They've frequently been around $20 including shipping. These are close to $30 shipped. The 1800 vs 2100 cycle difference between some older cells is unlikely to impact too many people and once they are inside a device, you won't see what colour they are anyway.

        Better deal at: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/156729

        • Those are the AAA, not the AA which are on sale here.

Wait until Dick Smith reduces the Chocolat AA 8pk on eBay to the $25 price then there will be free shipping using the current free shipping eBay code.

        • @hollykryten:

Ahh my bad. Still, historically sales have had them at about $20 - $25 shipped for the AA's as well plenty of times and not all too infrequently.

If you need them now though I guess its a bonus. I wouldn't buy these if they are going to sit in the cupboard for a while but.

        • @Smigit:

Those were the old Sanyo Eneloop AA UOMO batteries. These are the new Panasonic Eneloop AA Limited Edition 8pk Chocolat batteries. Limited Edition generally means a slightly higher price at times.

Though good price on the Panasonic Eneloop AAA Limited Edition 8pk Chocolat batteries.

        • @hollykryten:

I recognised that above. I don't see a huge practical benefit to having 2100 charge cycles when no one on this site has likely come close to exhausting the older models 1800 or so cycles. Charging them daily would give you several years of use, and I doubt many people are doing that with these low discharge cells.

Other than that, these are designed to sit inside a battery container not on a shelf. The change of colour surely isn't worth another $5 - $10? I guess people have collected weirder things however so each to their own.

        • @hollykryten:
For the Eneloop batteries, personally I think the high price is justified based on where they are made rather than if it is a slight newer edition.

I would refer to these batteries Made in Japan for the same price as a possible bargain, not for this current offer.

        • Thats right, the tropicals were made in Japan :) and they were under $20.
The excitement for Eneloops should now be over as they are a different battery.

inappropriate use of negative vote? how do you figure?

inappropriate abuse of moderator power maybe?

    • With no positive votes everyone knows this is a no deal, funny how people are scared to neg a deal.
But I do agree that you must have a genuine reason for negging and state that fact.

    • The rules are in place and as the saying goes "When in Rome do as the Romans do"

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

If you disagree with the rules you dont have to visit ozbargain.
But you are better off talking to a moderator about this than posting on the forum..

      • i dont disagree with the rules, i negged the deal for a poor price, which i stated. which is well within the limits of the rules.

        • a poor price on its own is not a reason to neg.. If you read the link I sent you, you would know this.
You must provide more information such as proof..

Any negative vote that falls into any of these reasons will be revoked by a moderator.

          No explanation of the vote

              “This is an awful deal”

  • I feel like a total n00b, but what's with these batteries? Are they better in some way than normal batteries? Or are you just paying a huge price for pretty colors?

    • in a sentence.. these batteries will with hold their charge a lot lot longer than other rechargeable batteries
