So it is really $20 off only?

  • -2

You end up getting 13.3% overall(if you buy a $100 item) but you are left with a $50 gift card(since you must purchase it first)

    • +4

You should be able to use the gift card for the purchase though?

      • Yes you can which makes it as good as cash if you were to purchase something else.

        • +4

You shouldn't need to buy anything else. Just buy the card, get the voucher, then go back and use the card you just bought with the voucher to buy whatever you want for 20% off.

    maximum $100 item???

what if i want to buy $180 item? will i get $20 off on it or not?

    • would also like to know

    • will i get $20 off on it or not?

It would stupid if you didn't, but from their wording it seems like you don't.

      • +2

you still get $20 off an item over $100, i did it yesterday

        • Thanks spole, I will definitely give it a go :-)

  • +2

I thought the title meant up to $100 off.

  • -1

    how about no?

  • can I use that same $50 gift card to buy $100 PSN credit in store, so I only need to pay additional $30?

    • -3

No, you need to buy the gift card first.

      • +2

But you can buy the gift card, then go grab the PSN card, then pay with gift card and cash. …But not sure if PSN credit is allowed in the discount

        • +1

Only 20% off, up to $20 off $100 spend.

        • Yeah, does anyone know if the 20% off voucher code works on PSN cards?

I'm not sure if it falls under the exclusion for "Pre-Paid Products"? It is pre-paid in one sense, but pre-paid products in my mind are things like phone credit, rather than Google Play/PSN/iTunes cards.

        • To be clear, the voucher for the 20% off won't work until the day after you buy it.

        • @Morien:

Does the 20% off voucher work for PSN cards though?

It may be excluded due to the terms and conditions.

        • @aardvark7: No idea. I didn't ask. Would like to know though.

  • +1

Can you use the for buying outright mobile phones?

    • Wouldn't be saving much, max is up to $20 saving. Considering the markup JB does, you'll get a better deal haggling.

  • +1

Can use gift card to buy gift card?

    • Yes you can but the deal is the 20% off not the gift card.

  • I wanted to buy 125 item so how much would that cost me and what would I need to do bit confusing.

    • Only valid for purchases up to $100.

      • WRONG! you still get $20 off an item over $100, i did it yesterday

  • The title is really confusing and misleading. It should just said up to $20 off.

  • Terms say maximum $20 off current ticket price. So I would say you can purchase an item over $100 dollars.

    • +1

No. Only applicable to items under $100. Confirmed from jbhifi store

      • No. You still get $20 off an item over $100, i did it yesterday

now this idea of mine might be brilliant or bollocks, but can't i buy a 50$ card (c1) and then go with the voucher i get with that and buy a second 50$ card (c2) for 40$? similarly, get the next card (c3) for 40$ with the voucher from c2 and so on? accumulate enough cards for whatever you really wanted to buy in the first place, so effectively, it becomes almost 20% discount for any item. assuming you can pay for a product with multiple cards.

Products excluded from purchase with discount voucher: Mobile Phone Contracts, Pre-Orders, Agency Products, Pre-Paid Products & Giftcards

negged for not reading the description.

  • I'd do it if there were anything of note under $100… the wd 1tb portable is 99 at jb but at officeworks its 76

    :(

  • Damn was looking forward to buying a 3DS XL and using this with other gift cards from jB I had :(

    Max $100 is bogus!

    • -3

well you would still get $20 overall yeah? so not a terrible idea. Reading it again doesn't look like it hey?

  • Do you think this will stack with 20% off Microsoft hardware sale til Sunday? Or is 20% off full 'ticketed' price.

  • +1

Becareful Not valid on the day of purchase of the gift card… you have to go back the next day…

I've just tried.. and couldn't use it straight away… (in the fine print) told to come back tomorrow… that's how the suck you in the shop twice…

Whoever designed this deal wasn't trying hard enough - I'm sure they could have made it even more complicated with a bit more effort!

  • +2

    Destiny for $55.20 potentially.

    • Scrap that - excludes pre orders :(

      • Go and buy it on the day (9th Sept) and it's not a pre-order. I plan on doing the same for NHL.

  • Was thinking of getting this and a PS4 game and a CD that would add up to around $95. Anyone had any feedback from JB to suggest there is a limit of 1 item?

    • +1

      It should work fine

      • Thanks. Also just noticed the 20% off deal by signing up for the streaming music service. Might go for that instead as I don't need to actually purchase anything to get the discount.

  • I got a 20% off voucher today, went back in and tried to usei t and they said it wouldnt be activated till tomorrow. Yet another flaw in this deal which has no details about commencement date on the voucher. I wanted a $130 item. If i use the $50 gift card first then the value comes down to $80 could they then scan the voucher to get 20% off?

    • You can't use it as it is a product over $100.

      • not true, used it today to buy an item worth $130 and got 20% off

        • Really? Did you get more than $20 off?

        • @treeman:
No I got 20% off a $126 fitbit flex, which took it down to $106, used the $50 gift card and paid another $56. I also got a $20 jb voucher that i can use at any time (till october) on any purchase for free when the transaction receipt printed out.

    • My 20% off voucher from two days ago scanned as "inactive" yesterday and again today.

  • Well apart from the store near me not actually having any clue about this deal it worked out well in the end.

    Used 2 x $50 gift cards I already had to buy 2 more $50 cards and got 2 x 20% off vouchers.

    • I was told you can only use one 20% voucher per transaction.

      • You can only use one at a time but I now have 2 vouchers to use on separate occasions though.

  • does anyone know if the giftcards can be purchased online to avail this offer or does it have to be purchased instore to get the voucher.

    • The picture says in-store only so do the signs advertising the deal at the checkouts so probably not but I have not tried.

  • I asked a checkout person to explain/confirm and was told that the 20% discount applies to purchases of any value up to a maximum of $20 off. Although there are some exclusions and it must be claimed in-store, you can purchase over $100 but will received only $20 off the ticketed price. So even though I'd been umming and arring because I couldn't find anything I currently want, I still bought one on the off chance there'd be something I'd want to buy at 20% off ($20 max) discount by 30 Sept. And, if not then the $50 gift card is valid for 2 years.

  • I just used a 20% voucher that i obtained about an hour earlier. It was a different store though, not sure if that mattered

  • +1

Does anyone know if the 20%/$20 voucher can be applied to price-matched items?

    • Good question. I have not tried it but the wording does not appear to exclude bargaining first to agree on a price before applying the voucher. If they agree to sell for less than ticketed and you can get the "… discount calculated off current ticket price" than it would be cheaper again. So it's probably worth trying, anyone?

    • Yes it can, I bought Bose Soundlink Mini and had them price matched David Jones.

  • Will the 20% off voucher work with the "Buy 2 movies Get 1 Free" deal?
