  • "Leftovers cannot be taken home" hmm seems a little stingy to add that…

    • Maybe cos it adds to their costs (more packaging) Dunno!! But the food is nice!

      • The meals at this place used to be huge. Sometimes first time visitors didn't understand this. There might be health regulations about leftovers but I don't really know. I used to love the large bowls of chiips and getting a rump steak that filled the whole plate. I haven't been there for years however so I don't know if this still happens.

        • If the leftovers issue was to do with packaging then I would just bring my own packaging.

        • +1

current health regulations allow you to take leftovers home so its not that.

        • @Aquilius:
Aquilis is correct. I wonder, if you bring your own container, are they actually legally entitled to stop you putting your left-overs into it and taking them home? Maybe they are, I don't know. Any restaurant managers/ hospitality experts out there who can shed light on this?

Last time I got vouchers for limor's they wouldn't honour it because apparently they didn't get paid by the voucher site.

Got stung for over $200 (we bought 3x vouchers), Limor's made us sit in the dining room for almost an hour taking other people's and phone orders instead while we wait drinking tap water. Only after telling the guy to get off the phone did he say they won't honour the vouchers.

We live nearby and the food isn't bad, but the service is consistently horrible. Good deal but I would avoid. Such scumbags

    • wow.. that is terrible.

I just would have walked out and not paid if they did not honour the voucher, it was not your fault afterall!

      • We didn't even get to order food. When we walked in we mentioned the voucher then were told to take a seat.
When I asked the waiter she said the owner (maybe manager) would come to talk to us but he stays in his cashier/phone area for over an hour until we complained directly to him. Even then he didn't hang up his bloody phone.

        • Wow, this all surprises me, Ive never encountered bad service here. But Ive never gone with a voucher before either. Will update on the service I get later in the week

        • oh i see. Not good. Where did you buy the voucher from?

        • @MelbBargainChaser77:

Yeah, not the best. They've always been a bit rude (especially if you make a takeaway order over the phone) but that was way over the line.

        • @MelbBargainChaser77:

Yeah it seems often restaurants treat voucher customers like dirt, i have heard of this many times.

          @Aquilius:

          It was this deal: http://99deals.com.au/deal/213409.html

The thing was Limor's had a fire accident and had to close for 3 months. On their website it said that they would extend any vouchers for 3 months to compensate but obviously it was complete BS.

They cheated the system by changing their name to "Limors Steak House" from Limors on Urbanspoon and erasing their old listing which had way lower rating too (30-40% I believe, all due to bad service)

Edit: These reviews are more like my experience, note the "amazing" reviews are by newbies

I had a look at UrbanSpoon.

Saw this review from August 28th

          Must have changed hands
          Doesn't like it

We had been going there for 20 years we went a few months ago and the whole menu has changed. My favorite falafel salad was small and terrible the pits was bought rather than freshly made the whole experience was so disappointing

What was more interesting was this reply, made Sept 6th, from the restaurant's spokesperson:-

          A reply from y-malka at Limor's
A few month ago? we would appreciate a more current review. had you read the menu, you would see that the dish mentioned comes in two sizes: small and large. you chose small! you need to be more specific with less spelling mistakes. not a genuine review, must be removed!

Even more interestingly. This spokesperson for the restaurant has reviewed their own business THREE times this year.

          06/09/14 y-malka reviewed Limor's
          05/09/14 y-malka reviewed Limor's

          @A3Australia:

I did the same research… I also looked at true local, and yelp…

I also found the spokesperson's reply (see below) to be most rude and condescending, he wants the review removed because it is not genuine! haha what a joke he has made 3 non-genuine reviews himself and the proof is right there!

          "A reply from y-malka at Limor's

It seems mostly the good reviews are from suspicious newbies with only one review to their name (owners or those related to the restaurant probably), the bad reviews are usually from people who have written many other reviews, and thus are probably reliable.

I wasted way too much time on this today, I guess i was bored, since im at home sick, but my conclusion after a lot of research would be to AVOID this restaurant for many reasons, perhaps most of all that they are proven to be dishonest!

        • @MelbBargainChaser77:

I'd be interested in hearing how things went. My friends and I used to really like this restaurant but we're never in the area now so we don't get to go there.

          @pointscrazy:
Im almost tempted to complain to living social for a refund. I dont like the way they reviewed themselves. Seems deceitful. I have eaten at the restaraunt many times though, I have genuinely never had a service or food issue. But the attitude towards the person that complained and their self reviews have now left a bad taste in my mouth.

cheers for comments, I was just about ready to purchase. Will avoid.

  • I ate there with a coupon about 3 years ago and it was alright. It included unlimited wine which was of course simply goon, but the food was good.

  • +2

Wow, thanks for doing that thorough research OzB'ers, I'll now avoid this joint based on it. Hilarious how the 'spokesperson'-dude shot him/herself in the foot by complaining about the validity of genuine reviews, but posting three 'stooge' reviews himself! What an idiot, to think this would go unnoticed!

Ate there maybe about 3-4 months ago on a voucher. Food was pretty delish, and had no problems at all, they were actually very nice and friendly, and I left saying to my other half "We have to come back here again!".
Got exited when I saw this deal, but now after reading all the comments, I agree with MelbBargainChaser77 - I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth.
Will avoid just for the fact that they write reviews posing as customers and hoping it'll fly under the radar.
    I'm not down with that.

All up I think we bought about 10 vouchers that included meals and drinks for this place for friends and family to attend the Mrs Birthday a couple of years ago.
Had a blast. Good food and great atmosphere!

Only had 1 small issue. One of the staff members got very lippy with one our party for no apparent reason! I believe that was his last night of employment!

$#!t, after reading above comments, I'm glad we did this a few years ago. Sounds like it's very hit but normally miss nowadays!

I ate here in 2010 and late last year with a large group of colleagues and stakeholders. No vouchers were used but my experience both times were satisfactory. We enjoyed the food which came out promptly and were appreciated by all of us in the party.
No particular standout qualities just decent tasty food from the banquet options. Their renovated restaurant looked good and was much more inviting and less pokey looking like the first time we came.
Portions seem smaller but must be for the better so there is less wastage.

Back in 2010 they were happy to supply containers for us to takeaway leftovers. I really enjoyed the two huge containers I brought home later!

Hope they pull their heads in with the latest service offered to customers, and those who bought vouchers get to at least enjoy their dining experience.
