SJ4000 Action Cam

Hi guys,

I'm after a SJ4000 action cam. I've seen it listed on ebay from $30-110ish dollars. I've done some research and there are fake SJ4000's out there too but the quality of the videos from the real and fake are quite similar. anyone here own a SJ4000 or know where i can get it cheap?

Not sure if sellers like this one are legit. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SJ4000-Action-Sport-Camera-Waterp…

  • I have a SJ4000. Find it hard to believe that they're selling the camera for $35.
I bought mine off foxoffer.com for around $90. You can also try a more trustworthy website like dealextreme they sell it for around $85.

Camera quality is good and the attachments that come with the SJ4000 package also fits with legit gopros, so imo you are getting really good value even if you are paying $100

  • the link listed i am pretty sure is a fake. the originals generally have SJCAM logo stamped on the front face and you will be paying more than $35 for one.

  • Why risk getting a fake, especially if you will get it wet. The real one would hold up much better in water.

  • +1

I've done a fair amount of research on this as we were buying one as a birthday gift for one of our housemates and wanted to make sure we were getting the real thing. What we ended up with was a legitimate camera without the SJCAM logo (yes some are still legit without it) but the waterproof casing/everything else was a clone (eBay seller showed us fake photos, grrrr..). However, we did test it in some water and it worked just fine.

Foxoffer.com do sell the original cameras and accessories if you want a sure thing, dealextreme have been known to sell clones, I didn't get mine through Foxoffer though, just through an eBay seller.

Things to look out for a genuine SJ4000:
    - Waterproof housing has 3 plastic horizontal lines on the inside instead of 2 (funnily enough your eBay listing shows this)
    - Housing should be 2.7" wide and not 3.5" or whatever it is (it should fit snugly around the camera)

There are lots of sellers putting up the real pictures of it and then shipping a clone, be careful with what you order. Cheaper = cheaper for a reason usually!

    Hope this helps.

    • yeah ahah i saw the comparisons between the fake and the real sj4000. i read on techmoans blog that the camera with sjcam written on it are the new rebranded ones, the older version with older firmware doesn't have sjcam written on it. thanks your opinions guys
