Free Internet Browser (Wii Internet Channel) for Nintendo Wii

500

Nintendo Wii owners who wanted to browse the Web from their consoles have previously been forced to purchase the Wii Internet Channel application from the Wii Shop Channel for 500 Wii Points. Nintendo has now made the app free for all Wii users, saying, "Effective immediately, people who want to browse the Internet using their Wii consoles will be able to do so at no added cost."

Also 500 points was worth around $7-8

Those of us who have already bought this channel get a free NES game (in October).

About time a company did something nice for the people who have supported them with their cash.

Now, where's the fine print that says this excludes Australia?

  • Looks good. Just curious if anybody knows any good nintendo wii console deals

If you bought this yesterday or any time in the last few years, it'd cost you $7.50. Today it's free. They don't give much bigger discounts.

I agree with itsross. It used to cost money, now it's free. This means bargain. I didn't know about this until I read ozbargain.

          read the f article…

      • itsross…you don't actually get your 500 points 'back'..

        • A free game worth 500 points is good enough for me.

I'm using the 'free' one now… Downloaded from rapidshare. However, my wii has been MODED.

I was only thinking yesterday how silly it was to have to pay $7 for a browser on the wii…I've got to start thinking more thoughts like that, and maybe other things will become free too!

  • Sorry if I sound stupid but is it possible to watch Youtube video on the Wii Browser?

    • YouTube works well enough, not sure if the recent update made it any better. Video streams well, but has problems when you go into full screen mode. A little bit clunky, but it works.

    • Yeah I had problems getting it into full screen mode before this update, but now it works although it's still not 100% smooth. I have to pause the video before going into full screen mode, otherwise the first one will play in the background.

  • Its too bad this Opera Browser is so out of date. Some foreign languages are not displaying properly and there's no way to update it. I tried Japanese and Chinese not working properly…
