Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 LTE 4G 16GB White $242 Aud Shipped @ DX

160

DX got a big discount on 4G version of SGS3, meaning 2GB ram, page desciption says 1gb, but confirmed to be 4G by the single review on the page

anyways, i think its quite the deal for the once flagship device, root and put some 4.4 AOSP rom it should still fly

blue version here, not LTE though.

Still a very capable phone regardless of generation.

Dont understand why I am getting negged for stating that it is 2 generations old. I didn't say it was incapable or anything. I was just informing people who were interested.

  • DX selling branded smartphone? I thought they, including Tmart, Gearbest, etc. only sale Doogee Android phone.

  • CPU Processor Exynos 4412 1433MHz Quad-core
    CPU Type Single Core

So which is it single core or quad core can't be both.

BTW why does the URL for both of them say lte or as most knows it 4G but the descriptions of the phones not mention it.
    looks dodgy to me.

if its the 4G model it should be I9305 not I9300

  • +3

This is the standard Samsung Galaxy S3 which is 3G and only has 1GB of ram. ie. i9300.

The 4G LTE version of the S3 with 2GB of ram is the i9305.

EDIT: As per above comment from beaver2233 (I was just too slow typing). :)

  • The 4G version is damned good. Still as good as some of the best phones today. Doesn't get outdated like..say..Apple ?

    • Does this S3 support the latest version of Android officially?

      • The German version of the i9305 (if that's what it is really) got 4.4.4 this month. If history is any guide, the official Samsung Australian KitKat ROM will be ready in a couple of months, and the Telstra/Optus ones another couple of months after that. Personally, I am super happy with the 4.1.2 Samsung Aus ROM I have been using for two years on my i9305T (got rid of Telstra ROM straight away). Stability is best I've ever experienced.

This sums up everything wrong with Samsung. Why people don't buy the Nexus line is beyond me. Or even other OEMs, at least they don't release a million different models with a gizzlion different revisions, making ongoing timely support near impossible.

        • Also running 4.1.2 on my i9300. Haven't had a single issue since I bought it nearly 2 years ago.

EDIT: Seems 1 coffee isn't enough this morning… Oooold

  • yeh im on the fence on LTE part, someone can change the title if they want, but knowing these China shippers accuracy isnt their strength, i'd lean towards it being 4G.

  • ive never seen an i9300 s3 have 4g ? thats the i9305 as mentioned by others, the fact they list it as such i would be wary, plus DX is not known for their quick delivery, i used to remember stuff coming after 4wks from them.

  • Guys, my other half has a Galaxy Nexus 3 (i9250) which is dying. I remember getting this phone for a good price, at the time the S3 was the other obvious contender, which looked slightly better but not worth the then-price tag.

    http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Samsung-Galaxy-S-II…

She won't need 4G but 2GB RAM will be nice, it's also got slightly better CPU and camera which she should benefit from.

Great price, but upgrade or side-step?

EDIT: Significantly better battery life too it would seem, which has been her biggest gripe of the Nexus. Tempted, would love some quick feedback…

I didn't know there was a nexus 3. If you mean nexus s, this would be a side step/upgrade.

Have you considered the moto g, which is popular with ozbargainers?

      For reference my phone history:
      Htc desire $310
      Motorola atrix ~$400
      Galaxy nexus rrp direct/kogan
      Nexus 4 rrp direct
      iPhone 5 $240

If my phone died/stolen beyond warranty/recovery, i would temporarily use my nexus 4 and likely immediately buy a LG G3 (although that's above my $400 threshold)

I9250 is the Galaxy Nexus (I assume by nexus 3 he means the 3rd nexus, nexus s being the 2nd)

        • I was just about to edit my comment with figures and dates for the rest of the phones :(

        • @Lukian:

Yes sorry guys, the Nexus range always confused me. It's a Samsung Galaxy Nexus
          https://www.google.com.au/search?q=samsung+galaxy+nexus&espv…

Whichever model that is? … Anyhow the budget for her is ~$300. She doesn't want/need top of the line, just a smooth upgrade of some sort would be nice.

No I hadn't considered the Moto G, I'll look into that. Not interested in iPhones at all.

          Cheers

      • Where did you buy iPhone from looks good price!

      Cool story bro

      • +1

Samsung warranty is amazing (at least for their monitors &c)

  • bought s3 32 GB $350 2 years ago….yes, of course COTD

  • +1

You're going on a review from the end of 2012.. not worth the risk..

  • There is a Korean model with 2gb ram, lte and exynos soc.. (it got official kitkat and some xda has guys are porting it to the i9300).

But..as an i9300 user it is hard to recommend exynos based phones over snapdragon if you are wanting to run anything aosp - the driver support is bloody ordinary.

If this is your budget get a moto g.

Not worth the risk of dealing with Dx, getting wrong model, getting refurbished, getting a fake…or worse of all actually getting a Samsung shudder.

The Moto G hits the Spot (ha!)
