  • Bought this TV on the e-bay sale, extremely happy quality of the tv for the price. Although the base was put together incorrectly, which resulted in myself prying off a metal plate and re-sticking correctly so i could get the screws through the base.

    • Is the channel changing slow?

      • +1

        quite fast.

      • +1

it takes about 1-2 sec. Slow compared to Samsung but not very annoying..

      • +3

I find channel changing is comparatively slow. For some reason, changing to a channel of the same frequency (as the current channel) takes about the same time as changing to a channel of a different frequency.

Also, using an internal antenna the Seiki 55" can only pick up ABC and Nine series of channels, with ABC channels stuttering. I've used the same antenna (same position/location) with a Samsung 32" and a Sharp 60" and they both can pick up all the channels.

My initial impression of the Seiki 55" is that it is ok for the price (bought for $474).

For use as a computer monitor, there is no noticeable input lag, and the TV supports 1:1 pixel mapping (no overscan).

The pixel arrangement is BGR instead of the more common RGB, so ClearType needs to be changed accordingly.

The one I received has two black specks near the top-left and top-right corner. The first one is about 1-pixel wide and the second one is about 3-pixels wide. The screen seems to have a plastic cover and the black specks seem to be black plastic or dirt of some kind that's stuck to the inside of the plastic cover. The end effect is that they look like dead pixels, but because the black specks are not directly on top of the pixels but a few mm above it, they change location depending on your viewing angle.

        • I use an internal antenna for my 65" and picks up all channels. Yes it takes about 1-2 secs to change the channel but it doesn't bother me

How do I get it from Walmart into my lounge-room?

      • +5

        Write a letter to Santa!

      • "You Save: $900.99 (60%)"

That should cover Freight from the USA !

…..now, how to get the HD internal Tuner re-tune for Aussie Channels!!

        • +3

$40 set top box and problem solved, no??

  • I can't find any reviews on this thing at all!! Anyone have a link to a review? Thanks in advance.

      Check Amazon

    • I couldn't find reviews anywhere, except OzB. The Amazon ones are for the 4K TV mostly. Anyway the AU at the end of the product code is obviously Australia. This version is not their official website either. Try here for some Ozb user reviews: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/162609?page=1#comment-2281…

Unboxed the TV yet? Any reviews please?

        • Not yet, my wall mount should arrive tomorrow, but then I'm away for work until the weekend.

  • +1

Was $470 2 weeks ago with no cashback

  • Tempted, but not sure if it's worth it..

    Is it really okay?

  • is the base swivel so you can turn the tv left and right?

    • +2

non swivel, you need to get a lazy susan

      • is that a serious answer? and i dont mean spinning it 360'

      • thanks i think i found the answer on youtube

  • +1

    Good deal!
    Hope $470 deal returns soon.

This model is not showing in the Seiki website: http://www.seikidigital.com.au/products/televisions.php.

Wondering how is the Power Consumption?

This TV is not available in Stores, so 5 Years extended warranty is also not applicable.

    • +5

their next move is 4k TV for this price soon!

  • Can you mount this on the wall with a generic mount?

  • did anyone know which store would price match dicksmith online price with additional 8 percent off.
looking for buy two items but only one would be found on dse online.

    thanks

    • Not many retailers carry Seiki TVs. Big Brown box does but not sure if they price match online only deals after the discount code but why don't you find out and report it here.

      • I got my 60" Pana plasma from there About 1.5 years ago from BBB, very happy and haven't looked back.

      • thanks for comments. i want to buy samsung tv not seiki one. do not know which shop would price match it with additional 8 percent off.

        thanks

        • Why don't you buy it from dick itself then ??

  • Funny how they now magically have stock of SEIKI TV's after the 20% off sale….SO very underhanded by DSE.

    • this is cheaper then the 20% sale though. i believe it was $555 after 20% off

      • I retract my comment; the Sale on ebay is apparently still ongoing and they have added those Seiki TV's, possibly due to a lot of earlier comments in another thread.

  • Whats the contrast, viewing angle, and motion like on this set?

    • +1

Contrast viewing angle is ok but motion sucks

  • Anyone got comparisons of this and the Soniq 48" for $399?

  • Some reviews would be nice. I want to get a new TV (50-60", with or without Smart) for under $1K. So far the SONY 50" Full HD Smart LED TV KDL50W670A is one that has good reviews and is on the top of my list (because I like Sony) but maybe something cheaper will be just as good for movies and games.

    • The Panasonic 60" for $1100 from Dick Smith is a good buy - alot more than this though.

      • Thanks! But it seems Panasonic isn't a good TV brand anymore. I will wait for a Sony to be on sale again.

    • I am on the same boat as you just waiting for the Christmas sale to hit so i can grab a good sony tv for my ps4

  • My 65" Seiki just arrived last week and I did have a play around. The picture is not bad. You might have to play around with the display settings a bit to get it right.
Internal speaker sound quality is terrible but I would plugin a speaker system anyway. Not bad at all considering the price.

    • How much was Seikie 65"?

      • It cost me $764.

  • Similar to $5xx 55" LED deal starting in Aldi next week.

  • +2

I bought mine for $474 after discount. I am quite happy with it consider it cost me less than half what I paid for my other brand name 55". This Seiki is mainly use as a second TV and for Xbox games. We ordered on the 29th Sept and was delivered on 1st Oct. Played FIFA14, COD Black Ops no motion lacks and watched NRL final last night was good although not as sharp as my Brand Name 55" but could be due to the antenna socket is 10m away form the TV and I have to run a long lead.
One thing I notice though is that the USB port is labelled as "service only" on the TV but worked ok when I play AVI files. It doesn't support MP4 and RVMB files.
The original audio setting was flat but much better if you turn on the surround sound option.
The delay when changing channel is acceptable only about 1 second.

    • Good to hear some positive comments..

  • Does anyone know how to change the refresh rate for hdmi source.

Been playing around with all the settings and searching forums but can't find the option.

The refresh rate on a hdmi source is stuck on 60hz

And unable to change To 100hz
