If no OS, how do you start up the system?

    • +2

      You get your own OS.

      Buy Windows or Acquire Linux.

If you dont know the answer to this, this isnt the laptop for you

  • Is this one good value? http://www.logicalblueone.com.au/store/530-asus-g75vw-ds71-g…
Could we have a deal on it?

For the performance of the GPU it's really expensive

  • It's been at that price for a while with that special as well, though in September it was listed as a pre-order.

Do note though that the 95% gamut screens have reached end-of-line and are discontinued, so you won't find them at Metabox until an alternative is sourced. Logical Blue One have some in stock which they told me should last them a few months.

edit: and don't forget shipping is $29.95

  • keep in mind that the new nvidia mobile cards are here and it's probably the biggest jump in performance they've ever had, mobile and desktop performance is closer now than ever before.

That's only what nVidia wants you to think. If you compare top to top the difference is as big as ever. 580 to 580m, 680 to 680m, 780Ti to 780m and 980Ti to 980m. I'd be surprised if the 980m is even capable of 40% of the work of the 980Ti. It's just marketing to help boost mobile sales because every noob will think the can "pwn your desktop 290 knt" with a laptop GPU. Maxwell are good chips. Just wish everyone would stop spreading this misinformation. /rant

      • I've not read a word from NVidia, this was from people benchmarking the laptops.

Even the apparent messiah of the PCMasterrace Linus said so.

I've not used them myself, just going off what all the experts said.

While Horize seem to offer great pricing even direct from horize.com, why is it that their SSD prices are just so far out of step with the market?
