Chromecast from The USA

After twice failing to take up Dick Smith offers to save $10 online, I've given up on buying a chromecast from them. I noticed that I can get one from Amazon for 40 AUD (I'm in no rush), but I can't find any information on whether what I'll get is exactly the same as what I get here. What is the difference (if any)? I already have Getflix so will be using it for Plex media streaming, netflix, Vudu, etc.

Has anybody gone into JB Hi Fi and asked for a better price? If so, what price did you buy it for?

  • Same device but it comes with a US plugpack
I had a mate pick one up just after launch while he was in the US.

  • How much is the shipping? It's usually quite expensive, at least the ones I've found.

    • This one was $40 (AUD) including shipping - from Amazon. I'd call it a bargain, but I think it is Amazon's usual price. The question is whether it is worth doing this to save $10. Then again, if JB Hi Fi will take a few bucks off, maybe you're only saving $5 to do this. I'd pay that for a genuine Australian charger.

      • It's a pretty crap charger, only 850mA. I just power mine from the TV USB port… 1 less "Vampire" power brick.
