well done on repeating the bargain - a lot of people will be happy cause they missed out last time.

  • Hang fire crew - we had some problems with the link…

I've used the code 'BOO' for my order this morning, how come I can't use this code 'ONLYTREATS' for my subsequent order? The email offer that I received for code 'BOO' doesn't say anything about the code that can only be used once!

  • The code can only be used once?

    • +1

Yep the code only works once! I used BOO for my order earlier from the email and it won't accept this code 'ONLYTREATS' :(

  • Rep, is there any way I can score the deal with $98 in cart :(

    • That's tough - 1 more box?

      • Dang, I also have $98 in cart.. I'd have to buy two more boxes but that's not under my budget boohoo :'(

  • +2

I also got the email from SpecSavers with BOO as the code to use..exact same deal :)

    • +2

Same here. Ordered my supply, and thanks to health insurance, I may pay nothing (last deal I used I actually ended up making $0.50 from the money back from the insurance company, but of course that's over $100/month these days, so it's a false saving ;)).

      • +1

yup, with this discount and my health insurance's rebate, if I buy 3 boxes of the Acuvue TruEye (very very excellent daily disposable contacts BTW) they all end up around $6.77 each which I'm very happy with.

        • Are those for people who have astigmatism as well?

        • TruEye is sphere only, the closest alternative would be 1 Day Moist for Astigmatism.

        • @sagrules:
I use the Focus Dailies All Day Comfort Toric for my astigmatism. They are a few bucks more than regulars. Makes buying lenses a little more pricy as I have different ones for each eye (and have to buy 4 boxes, but as I wear them so infrequently, they'll last me 2 years).

        • Thats exactly what I use atm, wanted to know if there were any others?
          Thanks for the deal OP!

        • Due to the price toric lenses, they are not as popular as a daily. Consider Oasys for Astigmatism (2 weekly) or Air Optix (monthly). Both are approved for extended wear as well.

    • Freaky…

  • If I spend $120 at specsavers and get a $50 discount, that means I'm $70 out of pocket.

If my insurance rebates me 60%, what do I get back?

Is it 60% of $120 or is it 60% of $70?

Someone mentioned that they once made money with such a deal. How does that happen?

    • I've got a similar cover with my H.Ins cover (GMHBA) and its 60% off $70

      • To be technical, I think it should be the GMHBA extras cover, not Hospital Insurance. But yes, from filing the claim just now, the percentage back is based on the amount paid, not the original price before rebate. One also needs to tick a box that promises that the purchase is not eligible for any other claim such as Workcover.

    • Your health insurance covers a percentage of your out of pocket expenses. So 60% of $70 you'd get back.

      • Most health funds will actually refund you a set benefit based on the provider and the item code. Best check with your health fund (If you look at your Tax Invoice you'll have a "Health fund code: 851" or 853 (or possibly other codes). Most providers pay a set schedule on that code, per box.

  • Its annoying that 2 boxes of my lenses come to $98…anyway around this instead of buying 3 boxes?

    • It works for so many of our contact lens pack shots - Apologies it doesn't work for yours. Still - it's a good deal right? Jack Hawks

  • Rep how about a 50% off code? I would like to use all my insurance rebate.

    • This pretty much is 50% off… just saying.

      • what I meant to ask is if I spend $200 do I get $100 off? or only get $50 off?

        • split to 2 transactions. easy.

Best price I've paid for my contact lenses in a while!

    • Tell your friends. Why would you buy anywhere else?

  • +2

It just worked for me using 'Boo". And it just so happens that a 3 month supply of my Rx is $102. I am happy! Jack Hawks is the man! ;-)

    • Someone once said Jack Hawks was the coolest name they had ever heard… maybe I should change my name by deed poll…

  • +1

I only pay $204 per year for my health insurance (extras only) which includes 100% rebate of optical (up to $150 per year) … So effectively I pay $54 a year for my insurance.
The other things are 60% rebate for dental and massage. So I save the other $54 there…
    PeopleCare Bronze Extras

    • +1

      sounds like a happy ending

    • +1

Is PeopleCare the health fund? - we should make a bigger deal about them.

    • tell me more

  • I'm with Peoplecare and I have Gold Extras - get $300 spend on either prescription glasses or contacts. Sometimes they give $50 gift card if you join as new member.

  • BTW, does anyone have a favourite place (on-line or bricks and mortar) for buying lens solutions such as AO Sept and general saline solutions. If this should really be a separate thread please accept my apologies in advance and I'll go post it elsewhere.

      Chemist warehouse?

  • Rep,

how do i cancel an order? I accidentally put in the first order without the code. Order number is 3397_882504. Can you cancel this for me?

    • +1

Call them up directly. Nothing is faster than talking to an actual person over the phone.

      • there was no number

    • I notice if you are logged into your account, under "Manage my account" there's a link called "report a problem". https://www.specsavers.com.au/my-account/report-problem

I also found a hidden contact us page: http://www.specsavers.com.au/help/contact-us
You can only find this page via looking at the http://www.specsavers.com.au/help, then there is a Contact Us link.

      How to contact us
You can contact us at any time via email at [email protected]
Alternatively, call our Customer Service team on 1800 074 171 between 8.30am-6.30pm AET, Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays)

Looking at the "Refunds and Exchanges" link, the returns policy seems very liberal but I have a feeling you will be liable for return postage unless you can somehow head them off before shipping out the order.

      • Thanks. Rang the port melbourne store from where my last order was dispatched. i have to send it back to them when it arrives as it is dispatched from overseas.
