I really don't get it. Why all the negs?? Is there some kind of "hate on jv" campaign going on that I don't know about?

      • not a campaign… he enjoys it… loves the attention ;) if you dont want to hate then do the right thing and give him a neg… hehehe

  • Chinese variant in White only.
    Comparison: DWI selling for $418.

  • +15

    64gb special price?

    • Yes, the 64gb deal is coming next week.

      • +2

        price decided yet?

  • +1

Note this is Color OS, not the Cyanogen verson. Not sure if you could install the other one on though?

    • +2

yeah not keen on color os, seems quite easy if you have even the slightest experience with android.

      https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/guide-installing-cyanogen…

    • +4

You can flash it on yourself, shouldn't be too difficult. All the DWI ones from the eBay deal about a month ago had had ColorOS but DWI flashed Cyanogenmod on them.

    • Yeah there are tutorials out there.

Looks easy enough but I don't have one

    • +1

Bootloader comes unlocked on them with a custom recovery preinstalled, all you need to do is download the CyanogenMod Rom (freely available from their site, or any other One Plus One rom you like, eg: paranoid android) and load it onto the memory while in color OS, reboot into recovery and flash.

Plenty of easy tutorials out there.

  • +5

pretty good price, pity its only 16gb.

    • +1

Thanks SmiTTy, we will launch the 64gb deal some day next week.

  • +2

Anybody used this company before? First I've heard of them

    • +6

Oneplus is a new startup, I've been using the global version of this phone for a few months now and I would highly recommend it to anyone on a tight budget. The main problem with buying a product from a startup is that customer service isn't that great, but other then that oneplus is a great company.

      • +11

Not actually a startup… More like Oppo using a different name to try to pretend to be a startup. (nothing wrong with it though)

    • Do you mean gearbest? They have posted deals here before but I thought delivery was super slow. Do a search on oz bargain (I am on the phone and it's to hard searching cutting pasting)

      • +1

Yeah, I did mean with gearbest. Slow delivery times is a turnoff. For products at this price range rather pay a bit more for a known company with faster turn around times. Who knows how slow they'll be on warranty jobs.

        • +5

I bought an item from Gearbest, 5 weeks and counting…

        • +4

Order ~3 items from them before, none of them arrive before 60 days. So don't panic if your waiting period is less than 60 days.

        • @stevelo:

No good for PayPal as you only get 45 days to make a claim.

        • I got like a 2c led card or something off gearbest ages ago, and despite multiple "unsubscribe" requests, I still get their spam emails. So they just go straight to gmail's spam folder now after I kept marking them as such, but it's still annoying.

        • The delivery time is usually pretty good except for the items which ship from China (ie. all of their cheap junk stuff like $0.01 items and $9.99 speakers). This item appears to ship from Netherlands. I wish Gearbest had specified where it ships from and expected delivery times.

        • +1

          @Steptoe:
Paypal will change the dispute window from 45 days to 180 days (from 18th nov)..

      • Dear PVA, Gearbest.com dispatches products within 3-5 business days after we received the payment. Sometimes, when the deal orders are far beyond our expectation and inventory, it will take longer to dispatch. For this kind of situation, buyers can either get the full refund immediately or wait. For those who are willing to wait, we usually offer them extra GB points or even free gift cards.

For shipping methods, we've already switched from Singapore post to HK post and Postnl, we expect this to speed up the shipping. If you discover any other shipping methods which is faster, please let us know, and we will definitely consider it to improve our service.

    • First I've heard of them

That's ok; I'm sure they have ozbargainer's standing by to convince you otherwise

  • wasnt this phone supposed to be 300usd on launch? did that end up happening?

    • +2

US$299 plus shipping only to US addresses. So factor in that shipping cost plus the forwarding cost and this seems like a pretty good deal seeing as you don't need an invite or wait for a pre-order.

      • I see. I wonder what's the best price they can offer the 64gb for.

    • +4

it costed me $414 AUD to eventually get it into aus. (for the 64gb version not 16gb)
probably a little more expensive now that the $ has dropped.

      • So was it worth the $'s?

        • +10

Cost me approx AU$385 to get my 64gb Chinese Version from DWI and worth every dollar of it!

        • @the69thhokage:

Was this during the ebay 15% off?

        • @18:
During the 15% off I got a 64gb Chinese oneplus variant from DWI ebay store and it cost me $478 AUD delivered. Highly recommend the phone if you can get it for a bargain price like that, this thing is incredible to own. I imagine hokage got the au$ and us$ confused and also includes a rebate in his price as I've never seen the 64gb that low from DWI unless he got lucky with some sort of promotional flash sale or something.

        • @Agret: no sir. AU$385. It was listed as AU$467 less 17% because of 15% off and 2% cash rewards which comes to $387. I just said 385 cos its a rounder number.

        • @the69thhokage:
Absolutely agree: I like it even more than my Samsung G-Tab Pro 8.4
It is just such a nice phone. The Sandstone Black (64Gb) will hide dirty stains more and has a nice gritty non-slip back. I decided on the Xtreme-guard Spartan tempered glass screen-protector, thou the rhino screen-pro. may be better?

Check out xtreme guard and the discount code on O/B.

        • @the69thhokage:

Ditto, i got it for that price too, well worth it indeed!

      • Was this from One Plus themselves?

        • +2

Yep I got mine from oneplus … was fortunate enough to get an invite from the friendly aussie forum at oneplus.

        • Nice, I was wondering what the postage is like from One Plus themselves, 65 is quite the shipping cost, or was it like 396 Aus for the phone and just 20 ish for Delivery?

        • +2

@Zylam Marex: I got mine direct from OnePlus too, costs are:
          US$349 - 64GB (16GB international version not available)
US$10-15 post to US depending where you get it sent.
US$30-35 courier to AU if you go through a forwarder
          So total is US$390-400
Mine costs about AU$420 in August, my mates cost about AU$470 a couple of weeks ago…

        • +1

@ozdavo: Thanks a ton for your reply, that is all the information I was after!!

Wow that's crazy, I should have hunted around for a invite, the drop in dollar has really hurt the deal, But since the Nexus 6 is crazy expensive and 5 hasn't seen a drop, 470 is still alrite I reckon.

Thank again for your help friend, that exactly what I was after!!!

    • +2

that price is for the global version. This is the chinese version which costs 1999.99 yuan when bought directly from Oneplus, which is 370AUD

      • What is the difference between the global & chinese version?

        • +5

Intl - More LTE bands, comes preloaded with CM11s
China - Less LTE bands, comes preloaded with ColorOS (you can easily flash CM11s on it as stated earlier)

        • +5

No real difference according to whirlpool wiki unless you are in the US, where the extra bands of the international model are needed.

        • +1

          @WeiKaiLe:
While having less bands overall, the chinese version has an LTE band that the US version doesn't (band 39). So if you're more likely to travel to china than the US, the chinese version is probably even preferable. http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/mobile_phone_oneplus

  • +3

I ordered an item from Gearbest using NL post and it's been over 30 days and the item has yet to arrive. You can track it on the NL Post web site… apparently it's on its way to Australia.

  • +7

    Rather a 64gb deal ;)

  • Possibly Phake

    • Thanks phriend

      • Phteven is your friend.

  • +6

Good phone… But have fun with warranty when you get yellow screens, touchscreen problems, non working gps and modem problems…

    • Exactly what I was thinking.

    • +3

It's going to be even worse then that, since this is the chinese version there is no warranty. The warranty is only valid through gearbest (Unless you live in China). I don't know if gearbest have cleaned up their act yet, but if they haven't anyone buying this phone from gearbest is going to have a very fun time waiting for gearbest to file their warranty claim.

      • +3

The reason for my choosing of DWI, over the International Version from other retailers, is that DWI offers a 12 month Australian warranty.
This is what sold me. The price on their Oneplus 1 deal was very good and will come back again in time.

    • Wait what? How is that even possible?

They're an honest sounding company; they've even paid english speakers to write their ad copy. Sheesh

      • +1

They are a great company, the only problem is that they are a startup company with a customer base larger than they can handle, which means problems that occur may take longer to get fixed.

        • Again, not a startup, it really shouldn't be an excuse.

  • +2

If only it was a 64gb version… Would buy it straight away.

    • I'd buy two

      • +12

        You mean you'd buy 1+1?

        • hahahha :P
btw sorry accidently negged u was trying to click the + but my mouse jumped !!

        • +2

          @AzNDuDe:
          I've 1+1'd that for you.
          Got your back jack

        • Cheers ty mate :) @cpho:

    • +3

The 64gb deal is coming next week, we hope you'll like it.

  • i really need a one plus one, you guys recon a better deal is around the corner?, price seems ok so something with cm11 already installed and the version where it has more lte bands and warranty.

    • +1

Your not going to find prices like this for the international version (version with more lte bands) anytime soon. Pre-orders of the international version just started and it's not even a real pre-order, it's more of a waitlist. As long as you buy the chinese version from a reputable seller and are not planning on using your phone abroad you will be fine with the chinese version.

  • -1

theres talk about the one plus one TWO… (sounds funny i know)..
which should be here sometime next year.
might be worthwhile waiting since this is not a top spec'ed phone anymore.

    • +3

thats a long time from now, and its not gonna be as cheap as this one, because it was their first phone they had to go cheap and get more people to buy it to be known.

      • The Two should be out around Q2-Q3 2015.
I hope they keep it the same size - i like the phablet size … could be smaller.

I think it'll still be cheap(er) than other phones… thats how they set them selves apart from the big players
It might not be as cheap as the One , but if they price themselves much higher .. ppl would rather get the samsung/lg/sony etc. etc.

        • +1

It all depends on the timeframe for their pricing strategy. Nexus done the same thing. They sell it stupid cheap to build a following. Once they have their following thats when they start jacking up the price to make profit. You see it happening now with the Nexus 6.

    • +1

It still is a top spec'd phone and is vastly cheaper than similarly spec'd phones/mini-tablets from the bigger boys with their more plastic toys.
The screen on my 'Plus is certainly not yellowed and has a better ppi than the my G-tab Pro.
There has been one instance of phone-in-the-pocket/pants-burn-up, but I am sure this a very rare occurrence.

  • I would like to say it's more than great!!!

  • Tired of all these online stores saying the OPO has a RRP > $900. At most it's AUD$550.

    • +5

It has an actual RRP of $300USD, absolute bullshit that they claim that it is $995.7

  • There is one 64GB black model for $484.50
    http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_71791.html
    or is it not comparable?

  • Good price but I'm waiting for the Google ARA phone :)

  • +1

I've had the 64gb alternative of this phone (Chinese version too, not that it matters too much) for about a month. I got it for $460 in total, but I still think it was a fantastic buy.
I haven't had any of the screen yellowing or the gps/modem problems that I've been hearing of. I'm running it with a custom rom, making it even better still.

    This price is very good.

      • +6

Learn to read words in context. Nothing indicates he doesn't still have it.

      • I don't understand what you are pulling nmur up on here? The sentence seems very clear that they still have the phone and think it is a fantastic buy.

I have had the phone for about a month VS I have the phone for about a month.

Which one sounds more correct to you?

      • Haha no I've still got it, not a scratch to be seen on it either.

        • FYI . I have the 64gb and love it. That's why I was asking why he would get rid of it. Best phone I ever owned….

  • +1

You can flash the official Cyanogenmod rom for this phone, blazing fast!!!!! I used to live in Australia, and now been relocated in China. Have been using this phone for a while, superb value and performance!

  • +2

Only iPhone users can live on 16GB.

    • +1

Yeah, how hard or expensive is it to put an expansion card slot in, a couple of dollars?
A shame, I would have been all over it if it had one.
      And mini HDMI

      • +1

Leaving it out is more profitable. Helps them upsell the more expensive model which will charge more for the extra memory than you can buy a card for.

It's becoming more rule than exception now, to not have expandable storage.

        • -2

"Helps them upsell the more expensive model"
          To dumb people

        • @Davros:

          To dumb people

Since smartphones are mainstream and everyone and their dog has one, I'd say a majority of these people are.

        • -1

          @lostn:
Not at all, some of us are smart enough to buy phones and tablets with expansion slots

        • -1

@Davros: LOL, Looks like a couple of the target market that are upsold to have taken offence and neg'ed the comment
          Truth hurts (-;

        • There are notable exceptions, such as the Motorola Moto G: the 2nd gen version actually added an SD slot. I almost bought one (I'm enjoying my 1st-gen Moto G), until I spotted the OnePlus pre-sales option a week ago…

      • it also should have a removable battery.

If I brought a ONEPLUSONE and the battery ran out when Im out and about I would need to connect the usb cable to a power bank/ext batt and wait for it to charge.I hate juggling a phone + usb cable + power bank together at the same time each time my batt dies.

I carry 2x spare battery around so when I run out of batt i just swap it out.

        • +1

Meh. At this price just buy a second phone instead

        • +1

I have a 1+1, and the battery life is pretty fantastic. 5+ hours screen on time over a day. Also, if you use the right charger/cable combo, it has super fast charging speeds, too, so if you top up while near a power point, you should be ok. Probably easier than the faffing about you'd be doing when you get home to get 3x batteries all charged up again.
