Samsung AR5000 Wi-Fi Controlled Air Conditioner - $848 + $80 EFTPOS Card @ Harvey Norman

160

Hi

I was after 2.5KW Samsung AC and was looking at deals cheapest I could find was $819 from Kambos but I had a look at Harvey Norman website and Samsung 3.5 KW AC was $768 (After Cash Back + EFTPOS Card)

2.5 KW - $69615

3.5 KW - $768

I preferred to buy 3.5 KW as it was $72 more.

I am not sure if this a deal or not but I find it good price for this AC.

  • 2.5 KW - $69615 <— Typo

    • I'll take two.

No, that includes the new government excise tax…

  • Your post is a little confusing. Need to break it down a bit more

  • These aircons look ugly compared to others eg. Panasonic.

    add $2500 install cost.

    • Really? Farrrrrrrrrk

      • Where'd you get that figure from. HN install for $599, $25 extra if u want peak smart meter installed.

        • My install cost for this model is $780- nearly the same cost of the machine.

        • I had HN install my system originally. The two sub-contracted guys who came out just started drilling into the wrong wall without asking where I wanted it. Then when I told them, they didn't check whether there was a cavity then decided they couldn't put it there because of some beam. One of them went into the ceiling without a mask and was coughing and spluttering the entire time (due to dust). The other guy wore one and seemed to second guess everything the first guy did. In the end they left silicone all over the place and the system made a 'clicking sound' that I reported to the manufacturer. Anyways… long story short, I ended up having the entire system ripped out and then got some other installers from the yellow pages who were much more professional. Something about using too short of piping???

For every bad example there will be problem dozens of good stories but in my case — -would never go through them again!

  • Got a similar model. The wifi is a pain the a$$ to setup and only works when it wants to. Don't factor it in as a feature what so ever. Our install was $400 but that was pretty easy one as it replaced a similar sized model.

    • I agree. I almost went for this model for the wifi but came to my senses and got the Fujitsu 3.5kw (ASTG12KMCA) for $897 which is R32 refrigant and has better reviews.

Have two of the same model. Have to disagree with you. WiFi was a breeze and works wonders for us. Remote remains faster though

      • Does it connect on existing wifi network or has its own wifi network?

        • Creates its own network at first so you can login with the app, then you set it up to connect through your regular network.
Turning the aircon on from the train when I'm heading home is great

        • @hellbound: +1 for the train home. Godsend last year.

        • @Deeky: just stay on the air conditioned train.

@altomic: Air conditioned train? HAH You don't live in Sydney then…

        • @altomic:

Obviously don't live in Melbourne. Trains are terrible in hot weather, aircon on the trains stop working on hot days.

  • This aircon appears to be valid with the Samsung Heatwave 15% cashback promotion:

  • Can you explain how you derived he price of the 2.5kW unit?

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=ar500…

The $80 Gift Card is only listed for the 3.5kW unit.

  • the 2.5kw is cashback, probably in reference to the 15% cashback in the other deal posted… the only one that looks like you could combine the offers for is the 3.5kw… also the 15% is off what you pay for the unit.. whereas i think in the past most companies have done it off rrp.. so in the 3.5kw case looks to be a pretty good deal

  • Cheaper than JB Hifi, was looking at this model a few weeks ago. ($1048)

I bought the same system in September for $711 from masters after price matching with http://appliancecentral.com.au/shop/index.php?route=product/… currently selling for $780

also used woolies gift cards so another 5% off. at the time they had a samsung tab 3 10' free giveaway. which i'm planning to sell.

I'd say find the cheapest price and go to Masters.

    • How much to install.

      • +1

$400 back to back on brackets hanging outside wall.

Was there any issues at Masters getting the price match as they are different stock codes?

    Wi-Fi Controlled Air Conditioner

    Not a good idea.
What if hackers get in and freeze you while you are asleep !!!! :O

    • A most valid contribution worthy of a +1 JV! Well done mate :-)

    • Or worse still, kill you by fan death! (yes, that's a thing!).

  • I got mine installed for $400 in Sydney. Good guy. This was my second aircon install after 3 years.

Sorry to say, But it's feed back is not good. Check product review before buy.
    And please no negative vote..

    Thanks,

Worst thing you can ask on here Manoj :-)

    • I read it too before buying, but i bought it anyways given it's a small unit and for my bedroom. 2 months in can't complain. pretty good unit. i prefer using the app rather than the remote.

i think you need to buy the right sized unit for your situation.

ex. 2.5kw system is good for a standard size bedroom not living as it is too small.

you can allways use "http://www.serviceseeking.com.au/" to find installers in your area and to provide you quotes for the install …

  • I bought 2 x 3.5kw system from masters in september for $810 each. So far my experience is pretty good with this model cooling and heating both work great. My install cost was $600 back to back. I m in Melbourne west.

  • Was looking at these last night. But only need 2.5 kW models. I don't think the $80 gift card is valid for the 2.5 kW models?

Also does anyone know if I they give you the eftpos cards straight away? Can use the $80 eftpos cards towards the second or third unit's purchase if you are buying multiple units?

And an ac is as good as the installer. Dodgy installations for cheap cuts your split system's life in half. Expect somewhere around the $600 average cost for the installation, and some 3-4 hours per install time. The damn venting takes 45mins to an hour.

I got an aircon from HN 1 week ago, they did half price installations on top of a competitor price match. Might be worth asking if you decide to buy.

  • Just on the topic of aircon installation…
Bought a Fujitsu one (ASTG18KMCA) sometime in August, used serviceseeking and local installer was ~$400

  • Just on the topic of aircons in general.

Before you start cooling your house this summer - check and clean the filters.
