Sony A3500 $254 @ The Good Guys

60

Picked up a Sony ILCE3500J a3500 Single Lens Kit (18-50mm) today from good guys. Still priced at $499 on the shelf but matched what I saw it online for, they did have some sony a3000 going for under 200 bucks but had sold out…..worth checking in store.
JB have them for this price in the catalogue but for this weekend only, other online shops range from $299 - $369…..sony.com.au on special at $299

Ok, so its not a proper DSLR but for someone like me coming from a Fuji bridge camera this thing is a big improvement plus I can use my old 300mm Minolta lens with the use of a cheap adaptor (ebay $16).

Sony a3000 is actually a better bargain at under $200 because it's cheaper (same specs) but also comes with a better lens.

boxing day last year, $150, half price

        • Been trying to track down an elusive a3000 with the SEL1855 lense. After reading this popped into good guys today and they checked stock, found me the last one in WA which I have just picked up for $144. Bargain!

    • Yes, but that's a long gone deal, the last deal was over two months ago with no stock.

The cheapest is now $300, therefore this is 'better'.

    • So, does this range of Sony cam's compare with a pocket-sized, eg, Panasonic Lumix DMC 40, for well under $300..?

      • The Panasonic is also available in white.

    • Actually, the good guys site lists as $254.

  • plus I can use my old 300mm Minolta lens with the use of a cheap adaptor (ebay $16).

please tell more! Can I use an old Minolta APS film-camera lens on this camera?

  • plus I can use my old 300mm Minolta lens with the use of a cheap adaptor (ebay $16).

You lose image stabilisation which is a big deal at 300mm.

    • The Minolta lens doesn't have stabilisation.

      • It doesn't need to because A-mount cameras have stabilisation inbuilt, this is an E-mount camera which does not have stabilsation inbuilt.

I bought one of these from JB HiFi as I had coupon from buying my ipad mini retina, so picked one up for $204.

Hardly ground breaking hardware, but a nice starter toy for $204
