Easily my favourite Scotch. Paid $60 or so for the 15 year one for NYE. Doh!
How much difference do you think there is in taste between the 12 and 15 year? I also got the 15 year for about $60 for New Year's.
I'm not sure I can tell the difference to be honest, the 12 year is pretty good.

Definitely. Been chasing some Yamazaki 12yo for a while now!
Personally, it's overrated (I have a bottle on my shelf that's about half finished).
I just find Japanese whisky too featureless for my palette.
Give me a Aberlour (particularly the A'bunadh) or Talisker deal instead.
+1 for A'bunadh.
Highland Park (12YO) is a nice drop too - if you like some Islay character without totally dominating the whisky.
I think both have seen the inside of sherry casks.
One Japanese whisky that I did rather like was 'Nikka From The Barrel'.
