Is There a Way to Tell if an iPhone 6 Is Genuine When It's Sold Privately?

Cross check the IMEI or Serial numbers on the apple website….Also check the IMEI against the AMTA website to make sure it hasn't been blacklisted in Australia.

Also check whether or not the device is still activation locked to the previous user's iCloud account.

If it is, ask them to unlock it so you can verify they are the owner.

    price

no one sells iphone with a discount of more than 5% off RRP!

    • talking private sale here, so used hence more than 5% than current RRP in most cases

  • Throw it at the ground hard, if it smashes easily it is a real apple

  • I just happened across this thread…

There must be something software wise or an app you can download to see if its fake because you really cant tell just quickly looking at them, unless you know everything about them (ie. owned one).

Better than getting a box of flour I guess….

  • Only would order from someone who has 100% feedback, lives local and who I can meet.

  • Quickest way is to open the app store, if the phone is fake, it will redirect to Goggle play store.

Also, you can plug the phone into itunes to see if it syncs.

  • Thanks for all the options, all noted.
