Free Domain Name and Web Site with Microsoft Live Basics
Microsoft are offering a free domain name and a web site as part of their Office Live Basic product. I can’t really see a catch except that they require a credit card number to register. From the horse’s mouth:

Can you tell me where it says you need to be in the US?
If so its a shame, i’ve always wanted a free domain name.
That’s terribly ironic, because they use Melbourne IT as their domain registrar:

It also gives you the list of Microsoft branches that you would be dealing with depending on what country you’re from, and Australia is listed there:

Oh well. Guess the proof is if anybody actually tries and registers one. I don’t need this (don’t own a business).
