$1.50 to See Madama Butterfly at The Opera House (Students Only) - Tickets on Sale 25/2 9am

140

I just heard on the radio this morning that Opera Australia is offering this deal for students to celebrate the 150th performance of Madama Butterfly.

I can't see anything on their website about it, but they were saying on the radio that you can call and book, or purchase at the Box Office (Student ID necessary of course).

Personally, I'd rather pick my eyeballs out of my skull with a spoon, but I'm sure it would be to someone's taste.

This should be the actual link:
    https://www.whatsonsydney.com/reviews/377/opera-australia-ce…

Also i think this deal should be marked expired, as it doesn't look like there is any more spaces or extremely limited for that date. There is only like 4 seats left, and all the 150 student tickets are most likely already sold which is why it doesn't show on the website.

    • But that makes no sense, considering according to that link, the 150 seats @ $1.50 tickets only go on sale tomorrow?

      • Haha they must have already blocked out the purchasing of the tickets. Which is why online it only shows like 4 seats left.

  • ONLY tonight?

  • ¹performed (badly) by an actual butterfly

I just got off the phone a while ago. Information provided is from what I've been told by the ticketing lady over the phone.

The offer is only for tomorrow night's show, which begins @ 7.30pm.

Tickets can be purchase tomorrow in person (as you'd need to show your student ID) either @ The Opera House or their Surry Hills outlet. They open @ 9am. So the earlier you go there tomorrow, the higher chance you stand of getting them.

  • Thanks for that update RyanMK. Sorry, I didn't have a lot of info to go with - figured anyone keen would do their own research. I will update title.

  • I've bought student ticket specials before, many years ago. Not the best seats usually. Sometimes there's a big post in front of you or you sit right at the back so your view is obstructed by the ceiling.

Still, for $1.50 it is definitely still a bargain, and a great chance to go to the Opera House. Just don't expect A grade seats and you won't be disappointed.

Any student who wants to buy me a ticket, I'll happily buy you dinner/drinks.

    • Better make sure they're over 18 or it could end up being an expensive night!

      (For the drinks part)

  • Thanks OP! Scored a ticket this morning. No booking fee either, just $1.50, bargain!

    • Did you happen to pick up a second ticket?

  • pick my eyeballs out of my skull with a spoon

    That's more Wagner than Puccini.
