40

Mid range (pricewise) 'Mercator - Grange' ceiling fan with light.

Bunnings Item

Bunnings price $159
Lighting Illusons Online Sale Price $139
Bunnings 10% Price Beat $125

Take in a print out of the lighting illusions page
Note the Lighting Illusions 'free shipping' which is important in the price match, as they take shipping cost into account as well.

Have used the same fan in my house previously with no issues. Now replacing other older fans in the house with this model.

This is based on the 'globe' type lighting, but they also do LED light versions which I'm assuming you could probably do a similar price match and 10% discount.

  • Not allowed to post pricematching - post the original bargain instead

    • Is this a rule?
Seen lots of price beat bargains on here….Office works, masters, etc.

Support the company with the cheaper price to start with, without them there will be no competition.

I brought my original from them, but I needed these fans on the spot, not in a weeks time.

These also were $15 cheaper, not a price match. Price match I always go the little guy.

    • Thanks Luke.

      Your support is appreciated.

Be nice if Lighting Illusions did a discount for us OzBarginers!!

  • This looks identical to the LED fan light I bought from Aldi about 6 months ago, only to have the LEDs fail almost immediately and flicker like a motherfather. Would not buy again.

    • LED versions are available but quite a bit more expensive. This has old school style globes. Got this model cos I thought the globes would be far cheaper and easier to replace than the LED insert.

  • we had the metal non light version. got it from Bunnings.

It was the noisiest ceiling fan I have ever used, not out of balance or anything like that, the motor itself had a loud whirring kinda noise.
Bought replacements just recently from golights https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/185078 they are not as nice looking but very quiet.

      Hi PVA.

I am not sure if you are aware but the fans come with an In Home warranty.
The Fans should not be making any noise. Something was definitely wrong with it.

In future something to keep in mind as Mercator would have probably arranged a service agent to come to your place to fix it.

I realise you didn't buy it from us but hope the advise is still helpfull.

      • Thanks, I didnt know that - I will remember in the future though.
I bought replacements already . I would've rathered yours as I like the style of these better (but no light) its just golights posted here a week earlier.
I always thought it may be faulty but I installed myself (pretty easy to unclip a fan and put a new one in - no wires to wire up) and thought they would just say I am not an electrician . it worked fine , just was noisy.

        • No Worries.

One thing to be mindful off as I am sure you are aware.
It is illegal to do electrical work yourself.
I realise a lot of people do but when It comes to the warranty it is going to be voided if you don't get it installed by an electrical contractor.

Just something to keep in the back of your mind in regards to ceiling fan warranties.

        • @Lighting-Illusions:
Yep, I realise that but the fans just clip in, no wiring to do if there has already been a fan. I used the existing switch on the wall so nothing to be done there either.
Mates an electrician and checked that it was fine (he came around for a coffee when I was doing it), ten minutes and it was done.

  • I bought a couple of these when Masters was clearing them out before Christmas. They are very quiet.

If you want to add remote control, Masters still sells the remote control upgrade kit for $40.
