Looks like an excellent Deal. Appears to be at least half the price of similar PVRS and an improvement on the Bauhn Models that Aldi were selling previously. On sale from November 19

inherentchoice on 14/11/2009 - 00:08 ¶Looks like I was $4 out if anyone's interested in a more recognised brand: http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/en/product/GH57...

happykamper on 14/11/2009 - 01:10 ¶I assume you mean MKV. They are the file type used when ripping Bluray discs to a file.
+3 votesThe ALDI unit cannot play 1080p media acquired from external sources. The unit will most likely record and playback @ 1080p from its internal tuners.
The comparison device, the Astone AP-360T can record TV from its (single) HD tuner, as well as connect to a computer on a network and accept USB drives and play back most media files.

rockuman_ex on 12/11/2009 - 09:35 ¶does this do time-shifting (eg. rewind, pause and fast forward live tv?)

Had 2 Tevion PVR's go back for repair. They work fine for a week and then start crashing and missing recordings. Even after coming back from repair there still unstable. If you want to reliably record a show(s) each week forget a Tevion. The missed recordings will drive you nuts. I gave the 2 PVR's away to friends. They don't even use it and it was free !
+1 voteUnit is rubbish
Read the first review here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1319661&p..."Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up who are thinking about buying this unit.
No Scheduled recordings. No pre recording. Point and click only. Too bad if you wish to record something while you're at work or sleeping.
No recording from EPG.
1 Recording only at one time.
2x Fast forward MAX – This is pathetic.
Cant playback pre recorded file while recording!!!! Cant even view HDD list while recording.
No program preview on EPG.
No time shift.
Will display 1080I channels however this is downscaled to max resolution is 720x576.
USB only for firmware upgrades no recording to, saving to or restoring from.
Tiny remote.
Washed out colour.
Crashed on EPG within 10mins (Detail descriptor).
Dolby AC3 only via SPDIF (optical). Otherwise stereo output.Nothing more than an expensive Set top box with a HDD."

I think the next cheapest alternative with twin tuners would be at least $400. Not everyone would use that feature though.
