Kobo eBooks - 90% off Coupons - Multi Use

510

1. Click on the link above.
2. Enter an email address. It can be any address. What I did was use one of my secondary addresses.
3. After entering that address, it will ask who to send the 90% offer to. Send it to your primary address, or the one you use for Kobo.
4. Your code will be emailed to you. Find a book and get 90% off! Code seems to work for all couponable books, i.e. ones which appear when you search and filter for books which allow promo codes.
5. Extra step for multi-use! Collect a unique code for each book you want to buy. Add them all to your cart. Once all the books you want are in your cart, add the promo codes. Each code will discount one book. Continue doing this until you have entered a code for each book in your cart. Then check-out!

You can get as many codes as you want and they aren't linked to the email address you use, but it will only allow one code per account. If you want multiple uses, you could use multiple Kobo accounts and download the ePub files. Another method which may possibly work (has worked in the past) is to open multiple tabs and go all the way through the checkout process to the point where you enter the promo code. Do this on multiple tabs until all the books you want have the promo code attached, then go through each tab and complete the transactions. I didn't try this myself but if anyone does please let us know how it goes!

Offer ends 13th April. Happy shopping!

Kudos to the folks at MobileRead, where I found this offer.

I used my primary email for both fields. That way I'll get a promo code after I use the first one.

It is pretty easy to de-DRM the kobo books so you can read on a kindle etc.

    • Can you tell me how to put them on a Kindle? I have them on my Nexus 7 and can't figure it out. I can connect my Nexus to my Windows 8 PC, but don't know what to do next.

        Sure:
        http://apprenticealf.wordpress.com/

It is a plug in to Calibre (free ebook management software), available for PC or Mac. Once installed any ebooks you drag onto Calibre is automagically de-DRM'd.
Works for Amazon and other DRM too.
They have good instructions, but you need to Adobe Digital Editions installed as a starting point.
Be aware some kobo books come as PDFs. You can un-DRM them too, but they still display as PDFs, so not always well formatted for a small screen.

        • Thank you, I just downloaded Adobe Digital Editions.

        • seems to work on any book imported into adobe digital editions

This is why OzBargain is great.
I saw a book I wanted to read yesterday, but the cheapest on booko was $25.
Then I saw this post, and got the coupon. The US Kobo store had the ebook for $7, with a final price of 70c!
    Thanks OP.

    • Hi mskeggs, How do I get to the US Kobo store? Is it different from kobo.com? Thanks in advance.

      • Change the country in your address and they give that country's pricing.

        • Hi mskeggs, I put USA into the country field but the state/region only shows Australian ones. I put a US zipcode in the address as well. Where does it show which books can get the promo? I am after Game of Thrones books 1 -5!Tks

        • @devinadalovely:

Some books aren't valid for the promo. From memory, books ending in prices not 99c are usually valid.

          @devinadalovely:

The Game of thrones books are couponable in New Zealand, change your country to NZ city Auckland postcode 1010, the 5 book bundle comes down to $6.23nz if however you refer yourself 5 times then you can add the books individually to the cart along with 5 coupons and get it for around approx. $5.25nz

  • Has anyone got their code?? 10 minutes and friend email does not have a code yet

    • I sent myself about 6 codes only 4 turned up for some reason my yahoo.com.au would not receive a code no matter how many times I sent it checked spam not there either. I've seen reports that some people weren't getting them on gmail accounts but I got mine there fine.

  • where do i enter the code at checkout? there is no field for it

    • In your account settings on the bottom right of the page make sure you have ticked on "Show me standard Checkout"
The promocode box should appear on the confirmation page of the checkout which is the screen after you have entered the payment details.

the code for your friend to purchase their first book is FRIENDZVG. it does not work if it is not their first.

Promo code can only be enter at confirmation page (after entering/choosing you payment method)

    • Codes are unique but are all variations on FRIENDxxx codes will work on account where it's not their first purchase however you as the referrer will only get a code back again if it's there first purchase however if you are referring yourself then that doesn't matter #clearasmud

  • Thanks bheart, still have not received any codes are the codes for the original customer (me) unique?

To Use multiple codes on the one account add multiple books to the cart and then apply multiple codes in the checkout. I managed to checkout two books with 2 different codes at the one time. Would have gotten more but I ran out of codes :)

Wish I'd thought of this before I went and bought my book!

      • I run multiple accounts at Kobo one in each region if I could get my hands on some more codes I'd have another run at it but the referral system seems to have gone down as I have not been able to get it to send fresh codes since last night.

  • @ melmec77
How do you change the country in account settings? Can't seem to see any? Thanks

    • Go to My account and then Payment information change you country to United Kingdom/New Zealand/United States. They do not match the address to you credit card details or PayPal account. Make sure you click save at the bottom sometimes you need to modify the postcode too, just so its got the right amount of digits not always though.

  • Thanks a lot for the info and detailed help. Couldnt have done it without your help.

  • Is anyone still having trouble getting them? Barely any of the ones I've sent have arrived (Hotmail, Gmail etc).

    • I tried to get some yesterday afternoon and none of them arrived tried again this afternoon and the ones sent to Gmail, yahoo & Hotmail did not turn up but the 4 sent to iinet address turned up within minutes. It seems to be really hit and miss

Just a note they have changed the codes they were FRIENDxxx now they are FRNDxxxxx why does this matter you ask? :) accounts that had already used the first style of codes are now eligible to use the new style. So get sending yourself some new codes and don't forget to use the cart for multiple books.

    • Well done!

I can confirm I was able to use one code for two books by opening two browsers and completing two individual sales nearly simultaneously.
