The Good Guys. Canon Pixma MG7160 Printer. $99

150

Hi guys,

It seems that this deal is back however, it doesn't come with the $20 in store credit like the previous deal earlier this year.

My HP has started to play up. I might go to my local store in Essendon to pick one up. The offer is also available online however, i think there is a delivery fee.

Still, its a pretty good deal i think…….

    • Printer price offer @TGG ends Saturday 28 March 2015, ie today unfortunately :(.

    • Not sure if I should roll the dice and pick one up or pick one up at tomorrow's sale!

  • Normal price?

  • i just picked one up at the Essendon store. Funny enough, the store had it advertised at $149. They had no idea that it was $99 until i got them to log onto their website to check the price. @tm87

Looks like a good unit, for the price. Will see how it goes against my HP!!

  • I have this printer both at home and at work and very happy with it.

Use it mostly for CD/DVD printing via the Canon Image Garden software at work and scanning paper docs to PDF directly to computer at home from the printer lcd/display.

The airprint function is also handy for printing quick prints/documents from my iphone/ipad.

Only killer is the price of consumables… but this is the case all inkjet/laser printers nowadays.

Hang on… the printer I use at work, is the same one I have at home! thinkingthinking** ;-)

    • how good is the quality?
can you tell its professional finish or that it was a printed job?

      • It's pretty good, we use it to print the discs for our business software packages, so not very graphic/photo orientated - just our logo, text and a faint background/watermark.

It's only an inkjet after all, so the finish may not be completely durable… we don't hold onto the discs long enough to know how long the finish will last.

The "professonal" look is more apparent if you use "silver" printable discs, instead of "white" printable

Recently spent $150 at Binglee for MX926. Worth it to me for the automatic document feeder alone.

Only way to go is refillable cartridges with auto reset chips, or if you can get it to be reliable a continuous ink system. I've had 2 of 3 of my continuous ink systems fail so I'm warey. The one that works has been awesome and has been my everyday printer for a few years.

I like Canon quality but all the print heads wear and start to clog irrevocably within a couple of years. Some people blame 3rd party inks but the alternative is to be unable to afford any of the ink, so I'd rather just replace the printers every few years. Will never buy another Canon pro photo printer again though.

I wish this was true. Buying one every couple of years would be fine. I have an MGX6360 that clogged up after 8 months. Now I'm not sure if I should pick up one of these and roll the dice or look at other brands.
