Airtasker Job Asking OzBargain Account Holders to Post Bargains

Was browsing Airtasker and noticed this task which is offering to pay people $20 to post a deal on OzBargain…

Title:

Looking for ozbargain account

Description:

1.need someone who can post a deal on Ozbargain;
2.he person should have good reputation on Ozbargain

Curious as to why the person doesn't just create an account themselves and post whatever deals they're offering… anyone with insights into this sort of thing?

  • Maybe they are looking for a reputable OZbargainer so that the deal is better accepted than being rubbished as spam posted by a newbie.

  • Why doesn't the person just post it themselves? Well they probably tried that several times but failed to get any deals on the front page.

  • Or they must be in penalty box..

Well if they're offering crappy/spammy deals, or are currently serving a penalty, it doesn't lend much confidence to the quality of deals they're asking people to post on their behalf. So now our posts are up for purchase, maybe next will be upvotes?

    • Ah… missed that bit. Would explain a lot :)

  • Banned rep probably.

    I'll do it for $19!!!!

    (just kidding)
(or is he, when I post a 2.99 flashlight from DealExtreme!?!?)

  • We are aware of these Airtasker jobs. Definitely not the first time.

Also, Airtasker tweets out the tasks so a bit hard to post a task about OzBargain without raising attention.

    Tweet images.

Reps have posting limits. Normal users don't.

However in this case, the store was banned entirely from anyone posting due to sockpuppeting so a moot point. If I had a $1 for every dodgy business on here…

Far out, $20 is $20… I'm gonna look into this, with a view to "scamming the scammer". Sometimes, two wrongs CAN make a right. As long as I get $20.
