Bear in mind it would have been a 1L bottle, but still seems expensive for duty free!
All I can say, monkey shoulder is an interesting whisky. Must try.

Well that link shows up as $62.90 for me (more than 10% more), but they do price beat so you can get it there for less!

Straight or mixed with monkey shoulder?
I prefer straight on rocks but not bad with the cola either if that's your thing. But imho If mixing u better u just use red label or some other cheapie and save the $
I disagree - while I enjoy whisky both straight and mixed and mixed may be considered 'a waste' by some purists, that aside, even mixed you can not compare Monkey Shoulder to Red Label JW, there is a significant pallet difference between the two.
Edit: I know that's totally against the spirit of OZ Bargain, but we're talking whisky here :)

Monkey Shoulder is a blended malt scotch vs JW black being a blended scotch whisky - so it's not overly fair to compare them.
That being said, I'd reach for the Monkey Shoulder before the JW black.
i see, you mean Monkey is using only malts while JW is a combination of malt and grain? so that means Monkey at $42 is a better buy at $3 more since it is made of more "quality stuff"?
Disclaimer: I am not a whisky expert or connoisseur, I'm just a bloke who likes to drink whisky (aka drunk :) who uses his tongue to judge what he likes (not reviews or opinion).
I'm not going to pretend to know the exact details between these two whiskies, just that they're not same thing (according to the label) and they taste different to me.
Good price on the Monkey Shoulder. I payed over $60 at duty free a few months ago.
