932

Hey OzBargain!

We're doing an Easter Surprise over at VPN.sh where you simply open up our Easter Surprise Link and get your free VPN account! Depending on how lucky you are, you could get any of the following three Easter Surprises:

  • 1 month free - 25GB/month usage (can be renewed at £1/month once expired)
  • 6 months free - 100GB/semi-annual usage (can be renewed at £2/semi-annually once expired)
  • 12 months free - 1000GB/annual usage (can be renewed at £3/annually once expired)

If you're not lucky enough to get the 12 months free, you can also upgrade your Easter Surprise to the 12 months (1000GB/annual) option by following our upgrade link for £4.

We hope you have a great Easter Monday and enjoy your free VPN!

Cheers,
VPN.sh Team

NOTE: If you have issues getting access to our Easter Surprise (stating that you've already claimed your prize), open a support ticket and we'll get this sorted out for you.

REP EDIT: I'm in the UK (2am here as I write this) and about to hop into bed. Any orders that haven't been activated already will be activated when I wake (sometime in the evening in Australia). Good luck and Happy Easter!

  • I read Months as Moths. How many free moths in your eggs?

In my mind have seen at least 5 different senarios? Love thinking in 3d colour

And thanks for the post will investigate after I eat more of my non moths eggs.

    • +1

Let's hope that you don't get an extra Easter Surprise with a bunch of moths hiding in your eggs ;). You'd have to be really lucky to find any in one of ours!

    • +5

1 Month free is still 1month free :D and to say proven fact with no evidence is inappropriate

    • +19

Our system is setup as follows:

Roughly 60% chance of 1 month. Roughly 30% chance of 6 months. Roughly 10% chance of 12 months. Just have to cross your fingers and hope that you get 6 or 12 months - however 1 month of free service is still a positive, right? Of course, if you wish to renew then it's a great price too!

      • +4

Kudos for giving us the odds.

    • Odds or [sad] past tries?

    • +1

Just because you dont something you like doesn't mean it's a bad deal. It's still free.

    • +1

      I just got 12 months!

You don't have to sign up to see your egg win. Just click the link.

      • Congrats! Hope you enjoy the service!

      • +1

I got twelve months free too!

    • +2

6 months here. Not exactly a proven fact now.

    • +2

Well I just got 12 months. Your loss I guess.

    • +1

      got 6 months free

    • +1

Also managed to get 12 months here. Feels good.

    • Proven? Um OK, how rational and scientific you are.

    • +1

      I won a 6 month 100GB one

  • Rep your site isn't working. It keeps saying you've already claimed your prize. Different browser, different ip, rdp to different continent, vpn, tor, etc.
    Is this deliberate?

    • This isn't deliberate. If you're using a shared IP, it could be that somebody else who has access to the same IP has already visited our page. Drop me a PM with your usual IP (can be checked from http://wimi.com), and I'll wipe everything clean so that you can have a fresh attempt.

      • +1

Actually all good. One IP got the 6 months. Thanks Rep!
I'd wanted to test your service for a while. :)

        • Ah, sweet! Happy Easter!

        • @LiamWithers: There should be a better guide on how to setup OpenVPN for you guys. Took me a bit to figure it out. However I'm now posting this comment from the "Netherlands" ;)

        • @elitistphoenix: Thanks for the comment, I'll pop "update tutorials" on my to-do list! Out of interest, which operating system was this for, Windows?

        • +1

          @LiamWithers: Linux :)

        • +3

@elitistphoenix: Indeed, Linux has been missing tutorials for way too long. I'll get this seen to over the next few days. Again, thanks for the heads up!

    • Had same thing happen to me

      • Me too I'm afraid.

        • +2

Rep is legit. Giving him a +1

  • I just got 12 months!

Anyone found any reviews of this company?

Also, I don't want to sign up yet, will the 12 months still be there later if I decide to sign up?

    Thanks

    • +3

Unfortunately you'll lose the link if you close and come back later - it's either that, or we store cookies on your PC (not something we're fond of, generally). If you could drop me a PM with a screenshot to the order form, that'd be perfect, and I can honour this once you've looked over reviews etc. if you wish!

  • 6 months here

  • I'm a noob with VPN. Can you clarify for me please? With the 6 months free - 100GB/semi-annual usage (can be renewed at £2/semi-annually once expired), does that mean having 100GB to use over the course of 6 months? And then after that to continue using this service it is £2 for blocks of 100GB with 6 months expiry? Thanks.

    • Hey, hope I can help! Yup, with the 6 month option, you get 100GB to use over the course of 6 months. After that, you can either let the service expire (and not be charged), or choose to renew at £2 which will provide a further 6 months, and 100GB of data to use. You can continue to renew like that for as long as you wish to use the service :).

Just for further clarification, if you haven't used the entire 100GB within 6 months, then unfortunately the remainder is written off and cannot be used.

  • +4

I just got the 12 month egg! Thanks OP.

  • How's your Sydney dedicated ip vpn service? What's the new eta?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/187592

    • Hi there, only just ticked over to the 6th here in the UK! We've had some delays in getting the server racked in the datacentre, but it looks like all will be good to go towards the end of the week. We'll likely add on a couple of weeks free service as an apology for not getting things up and running on time - I can assure you that the delays have been out of our hands as we've been waiting on third parties!

We should be up and running before Friday evening over there in Australia :), but emails will be sent out if any further delays are likely to happen.

  • +1

Thanks Liam…have been meaning to try out a VPN service for a while now. Perfect timing.

  • Says I've already claimed my prize but first time i've opened the link so tried on 4g and got the same result, broken?

    • Open a support ticket at our client area and I'll get you sorted.

  • +1

Thank Liam, I just got 6 months :)

    • Hey :), hope you're doing good! No problem, enjoy the 6 months!

      • I am doing great thanks and I will definitely enjoy the 100GBs :)

  • A technical question: Why are you using TCP insted of UDP for your OpenVPN servers Liam?

    • Some locations should be accessible via UDP also (simply change the relevant line in the .ovpn files), however we tend to see more abusive clients using UDP, and decided not to throw in the UDP configuration file as default any more. Hope that clarifies!

      • +1

Thanks for the info Liam. UDP does indeed work. Happy Easter!

        • No problem. Glad to hear it! Happy Easter to you too :).

  • +1

Hey Liam, clever promo. What's your logs policy there?

    • Hey :). We log connection/disconnection time, as well as total amount of bandwidth used (so that we can keep on top of users bandwidth limits).

We do not log the data which you access whilst connected to our VPN service.

      Hope that helps!

      • I think zuccs' question was more directed to whether you keep any logs "which would allow you to match an IP-address and a time stamp to a user of your service"

        • The answer to that is yes.

        • +1

@Diji1: Yeah, connect/disconnect times and bandwidth used is definitely not what you want from a VPN…

  • Hi Liam, one more question. Is there any plans to launch a 'smart' DNS service, to unblock American based content on NetFlix without having to use a VPN?

    • This is something I've always wanted to get up and running, but as of yet we've stuck to VPN's. I'll look into this again in the next few weeks to see if we can pull something together, however the market is extremely saturated, and it might be worth our time trying to compete with the likes of Hola.

That said, I'll definitely look into it, and if we do pull something together then I'll be sure to let OzBargain know!

      • +1

Thanks Liam! The speed benefits of using a 'smart' DNS vs. VPN service are quite significant for content streaming.

  • Got 12 months, still waiting for the order to process!

    • +1

Order should now be accepted :)

  • Hi, Rep!
    Pretty nice deal, thanks.

Could you please answer these questions :

    1. Do you keep ANY logs which would allow you or a 3rd party to match an IP-address and a time stamp to a user of your service? If so, exactly what information do you hold?

    2. Under what jurisdictions does your company operate and under what exact circumstances will you share the information you hold with a 3rd party?

    3. In the event you receive a DMCA takedown notice or European equivalent, how are these handled?

    4. Why are you asking for the fullname & address during registration?

    • I believe they are UK based.

    • He replied to my question on this: "We log connection/disconnection time, as well as total amount of bandwidth used (so that we can keep on top of users bandwidth limits)."

That's too much logging for my liking!

      • Yeah, i saw that reply. I just want to see answers for 2-4.
If they store logs - they can be forced to share it with 3rd party.

But, let's wait for the answers…

  • I got one month, set it up on Windows 7 and had a quick play. I setup so I had 4 servers to choose from. I tried the UK server and tried unsuccessfully to watch a BBC iPlayer program. I wasn't allowed as it was only to be viewed by UK residents. I also found that I was repeatedly told that my password was incorrect. I looked a minute later and it had been connected.

I noted the "Paypal" option remained highlighted during the signup so I guessed that possibly my Paypal A/c would be debited the One Pound at the end of my free month! I am not sure how this can happen though.

    Maybe I did something wrong?

So I wish to 'cancel' my account but couldn't find anywhere on the website or Google to cancel a VPN.SH account.

I sent off an email asking my account be deleted.

    Maybe next time?

    • I think what happened to you is the same thing that happened to me when I tried to watch something on Youtube that only Canadian residents could watch. I suspect that both Youtube and BBC are doing the same thing which is making sure the dns addresses are located in the country of resident. VPN.sh uses Google's DNS addresses, which are located all over the world…

I wish there was a tutorial on how to override the VPN servers dns addresses, it would make my life so much easier…

Be warned I signed up from a deal posted here which I paid for. Support for this company is terrible. 2 weeks to respond then a follow up question never answered. I wouldn't bother using this service even for free. The service never worked correctly for me. Look at previous deals from this company on this site, many, many people with issues.

Just my opinion though. Good luck anyone using them.

    • +2

Whilst I can't comment on the quality of the support, I can comment on the quality of the VPN service. It was terrible, rarely worked, and it did it was intimetent and slow. If You pay next to nothing, I guess you can't expect much. This was earlier last year, so maybe things have improved since then?

      • +1

I agree, things may have changed. Just letting people know my experience. The product and support were terrible when I used them, but then, free is free. I guess it's what your time is worth setting it all up.

        • Don't forget the additional time required to complete things because the connection is … bad.

  • +2

Thanks Liam! Great product, good speeds (what idiot thinks VPN won't have overheads and therefore reduction in your speeds is a moron) compared to other VPN's i've used. Very easy to use with the Open VPN client and downloads of all the site configs.

    • I don't know which idiot thinks that. I note that you seem to be the only person bringing that up …

      • +3

I seriously don't understand all the fuss everyone has about VPN.sh, yes the customer service isn't great all the time, but I can tell you now with certainty that it is better than some of the most profitable companies in the world! Also, I never hear anyone complaining about the speeds on PIA, yet both VPN.sh and PIA use servers owned by the same company (I think…), meaning that unless VPN.sh is deliberately spending money on really bad servers both PIA and VPN.sh should experience similar speeds on servers owned by the same company…

        Speedtest comparing VPN.sh with PIA

        Without VPN:
        http://www.speedtest.net/result/4268237277.png

        VPN.sh:
        http://www.speedtest.net/result/4268239515.png

        PIA:
        http://www.speedtest.net/result/4268246355.png

All speedtests are almost identical! So whoever is complaining about the speeds, please stop complaining about the speeds. Thanks.

        • Thanks for clarifying, hopefully this will restore some confidence in us for the doubters!

      • It was just a general remark.

  • +1

how do i even use this thing?!

    • no idea

    • +1

When my account was activated I got a detailed email with all instructions.

  • 6 Months, i'll give it a crack. Thanks Rep.

  • +1

6 Moths here. Im hoping this will work well and ill continue it on

  • Cool, thank you. I've got a spare dd-wrt router than I want to set up with vpn.sh, so that anything that connects to its Wi-Fi is in the US. Is there a guide on how to do this? Never done it before, Google found an unofficial guide that talked about ca.cert, not sure where to find this? Ideally would like a step-by-step official guide for dd-wrt.

  • Could not connect using the username and IP address (Australian IP) in the Activation email. Is there a waiting period for activation?

    • I think there is a different password if you login and look at the product you received it should have another password

    • The latest email I received is titled 'Welcome' with the following message;

      Dear ********,
Thank you for signing up with us. Your new account has been setup and you can now login to our client area using the details below.
      Email Address: ******
Password: ********** - You set this when creating your account

I can log into my account but none of the VPN's accept my credentials.

Do I need to wait for an additional 'Activation' email?

      • I'm at the same stage as you, from reading previous posts it sounds like we need to wait for this 'activation' email.

        • Yep, see than now. Thanks.

    • As mentioned below, you need to wait for your activation email - this should now have been sent out to all those who have ordered so far today.

i guess just plain lucky.. !! got 12 months free (lucky to be amongst 10%)

thinking should i buy a lottery ticket today.. lol

Thanks and posting from Atlanta, USA (wink wink)

  • +1

I am surprised I was able to get free 1 month, with luck like mine.

  • +1

6 months here ! thanks for the awesome ester gifts.

  • +1

terrible company check previous deals, I would not feel comfortable giving them any information at all or even rely on them for support

  • Hey OP.

Thanks for the gift. I am trying to connect but it is not clear what the user should be.

I assume my email address but using my email and pass, the three locations I have tried all refuse my credentials however they allow me to log in to the website.

    • You did what I did the first time I used VPN.sh :)

The user and pass are different to your login details. To find out what they are you need to login to your account on the website and go into my services and select a service. Scroll all the way to the bottom to find out what the username and password is.

      • +1

Okay - I see that now. Thanks.

My account says pending so I guess it has yet to be activated.
