Best VPN for Unlimited or Quite a Large Download Quota

Hi All.

Quite new to the VPN Thing. I have seen plenty of bargains for VPNs and haven't really understood / identified which one to sign up for.

I have seen from comments that thyese do have download quotas attached to them.

Can the Ozbargain community guide me (and others like me) towards what they think is the best VPN for unlimited downloads or a sizeable download quota in the vicinity of 500gb?

Thanks all

  • If you want to use it ILLEGALLY download movies the VPN won't save you… but if not, I'd recommend Steganos VPN.

    • So VPN won't cover up your IP address if you are using Bit Torrent?

      • It will. but better to use a VPN that doesn't log your details like IP address etc.

        • Any free VPN (for torrenting) you could recommend?
          How about Cyberghost?

Also P2PBlcoker would be handy too?

        • +1

          @Bappy:
          Cyberghost doesn't log (see https://support.cyberghostvpn.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/L…)
Speeds are good too so I do recommend using them.

I don't know what P2PBlcoker is, but I used to use PeerBlock. Probably useless but if you feel better using it then use it. I recommend using it WITH VPN. DON'T use it without VPN! DON'T!

  • I guess we all want a good VPN now…

Im looking for something of value too.

  • PIA seems to be one of the more popular VPN services. There was a link somewhere for 2 years at USD$59.95 (instead of 39.95 for 1 year). Works out a little over AUD$3 a month

  • was going with this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/189475
but its only 2gb per month which is not enough. still looking for something good and unlimited prefer free :P

  • After reading this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/189120, I am leaning towards TorGuard myself. It's probably not the best around but the pricing is really attractive with no logs.

    • I've used TorGuard and the problem was that most servers were very slow.(at that time anyway, not sure about now) Switched to CyberGhost and most servers have reasonable speed.

      • I am thinking about ditching then as well for the same issue. Only think I find good is the SOCK5 proxy.

        • I've just signed up with TorGuard for a year's subscription at about AUD40 after conversion. While the speed is not superb, it's not too bad (I'm on NBN so I didn't expect to be able get the same speed using VPN). I find that using OpenVPN gives a more stable connection than PPTP which keeps dropping out.

As for SOCKS5 proxy, the sites offered by TorGuard are located far away like Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Romania, Russia, Canada and Iceland. Speed isn't anything great and worse than VPN.

  • NordVPN is quite decent. They have added a new NZ server which is quite fast for p2p.
Also their support via chat is brilliant.

  • I was going to open a new topic but better off asking here-

If I have getflix do I still need a VPN if I download other stuff? I assume so. I understand getflix is a DNS and not a VPN.

    • yes u do need a vpn.

  • how about tunnelbear?

  • So why do ppl pay for torguard etc if cyberghost is free? I want to watch some things that are geoblocked.

    • Cyberghost is not free (if you wanna use more servers)
