Kogan. Cancelled Order, Emailed Twice, Two Weeks Later Told Product Is on The Way

In short;

Bought New DS from Kogan store on March 30th (during eBay sale). Got gifted a New DS the next day. March 31st, sent a request through eBay to Kogan to ask to cancel order. No response. April 8th, messaged again to cancel order. No response. April 13th received email to say they cannot cancel order as it was already being sent. This is two weeks after my initial request.

I called Kogan today. They said there was nothing they can do and will put my concerns to the senior team (whatever that means). Kogan said someone will be in contact soon.

So, what to do? The DS is going to arrive tomorrow or the next day (apparently). I have yet to receive notice that it has shipped from anywhere. Am going to wait it out, but feel Kogan ignored my request (twice) to cancel only to send it two weeks after the initial request to cancel.

Seems this isn't the only time https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/155328.

I have thought of opening a dispute through pay-pal, but not sure where that will get me. I'm planning on seeing where this goes, but do feel I have a genuine dispute with an Australian retailer who has been extremely tardy with my order and requests. I'm just not so sure of what my options are and which way to go.

Basically, I want the money back, without paying for return postage.

Comments on how to get this sorted?

TLDR: Kogan F&^%ed me.

Refuse delivery. If the courier leaves it anyway, don't open it, arrange a return to sender with the courier.

With all due respect, sale on ebay is a firm contract, it's up to the seller to accept or refuse the buyer request to cancel transaction.
What would your Paypal dispute be about? you placed an or paid for it and then changed your mind? You can only open a dispute if you did not receive your order or it was not what you paid for (broken or significantly different than the description).

PS: good news for you, Paypal is currently having free return postage if you need to return an item, activate this offer first and then claim the return postage from Paypal if the item turns out to be broken when you receive it ;)

    I disagree that

    Kogan F&^%ed me.

You ordered something, then you didn't want it and they didn't answer their emails. Now to be fair that weekend was easter which is probably why your message took a long time to get a response.

    Try contacting them via Facebook.

Worst case scenario you have to sell the DS on eBay brand new.

Kogan aren't obligated to refund you at all.

You should have posted them a crystal ball a week prior to placing the order.

They then would have then known to cancel your order when you placed it.

BTW, how does your entitled-ass not feel the least bit guilty, and expect them to pay for the postage - both ways - because of your mistake!!

  • once you click buy it now you just bought the item and are required to pay for it and that's it.

unless the item is broken or not as described then you enjoy that second DS.

Thanks for all of your comments.

After some thought I won't return it with the courier as I feel that is a bit too strong for the situation. PayPal free return is awesome but I'll have to check with Kogan if they will charge a restocking fee. I may be able to have that overlooked if I bring up the poor comminication (I know it was over Easter however Easter isn't two weeks). Failing that I can sell the Ds for what I paid for it in a quick sale (I hope).
