  • Damn that looks good!

    • +3

looks are inversely proportional to taste when it comes to HJ and other BJ's.

      • +31

I'll take your word for it on the taste of BJs!

        • +1

I guess grill'd is the exception

Not sure if unintentionally planted joke that you didn't even pick up on, or intentionally planted joke which you're now pretending to be oblivious to..

          Either way, did lol.

        • +4

          @jubba:
I must be one of the few that dislikes grilled….with a passion

        • +1

@MelbBargainChaser77: Nope. I also dislike overprice burgers made with stale bread and small amounts of meat. I can only hope that one day everyone will stop carrying on about them.

        • +1

@Jake D: Aww…Don't go hating, they are still trying to make enought money to afford the missing "e"

      • +6

        Pineapple juice apparently helps

  • Looks really nice. Also looks like it's going to fall to bits while you eat it.

    • +1

Yes, that's the Manly way of eating a burger.

    • +3

It's not.. because the real burger has very little meat in it. And the fillings don't reach the rim of the buns.

  • +5

I had one an hour ago. Its a very nice burger.
The bun is soft, the sauce is juicy, the beef is tender.

    • What store?

      • +1

half way between Canberra and Sydney off the highway…

        • +13

          u just tired n hungry

        • Marulan.

        • @Jay43: that's is

  • +1

The ones at melbourne airport are crap :-( someone had pulled all the beef from mine, and gave me cold fries, warm sprite. Highly not recommended

    • The HJs at airports usually just 'don't do' vouchers for some reason… maybe they know they're the cheapest option there already, so no need to discount to be competitive?

Good work though OP, I'll be using this one a couple of times I reckon.

  • Not as good as pushed beef burger.

    • +1

      really? sigh

      • -5

        Wigh shy?

    • Pushed beef would be tough

  • +2

As someone who only buys multiple quantities of bacon deluxes as Hungry Jacks, is it worth trying?

As in, does this just taste like a mcdonalds burger?

    • +9

Bacon deluxe is the best burger in HJ .

      • Double Bacon Deluxes are pretty damn good.

        • they are twice as good.

      • +3

You've obviously never had an Angry Whopper.

    • I love the bacon deluxes on tuesday (when they have it) because of the two for one deal.

      • I'm pretty sure the standard Hungry Jacks vouchers for two for $8.35 are the same though?

Which means you can have bacon deluxes every day of the week.

        • Yes but I'd rather pay $6.50 on tuesdays. I don't eat fast food every day anyways.

  • +1

is there a list of participating stores? just tried at my local, they say they not part of it

  • Is this any good?

  • Mmm tried one tonight, havn't had Hungry Jacks in years and I was not impressed. Just a soft bun with 'mushed meat' in the middle.

    • +5

What did you do with the other burger?

  • +2

    Prefer the pulled sausage.

    • +3

I also like my sausage being pulled

      • +1

Well that escalated :P…..stay classy ozbargain!

  • +1

Tried it today, no surprise they are doing a BOGOF.

  • Does it taste like a sloppy joe? Meat-like flakes covered in bbq sauce?

If so, I don't want it.

  • +1

I got one of these burgers. It was nice, but the burger looked nothing like the picture. The picture shows so much meat, but the real thing you barely get any at all. And it's a flat burger, not like this one which has height.

  • +6

I've just sent LifehackerAU a msg asking if they could do a Takeaway Truth on this burger. Dat promo pic lol. I wanna see how the real thing turns out (cos, you know, it's still cheaper than buying one to find out for myself..)

    Fingers crossed.

  • +1

    holy shit this was nice

  • what's BJ???

    • Burger joint….

  • it needs salt. spent entire meal searching for the flavour and found nothing and its the size of a cheeseburger… 3/10

  • +2

Needs salt? I cannot imagine it would be lacking

  • +1

I tried the bacon deluxe x2 with vouchers a few months back after not having HJs for years and vowed I wouldn't be going back again for years

Must resist urge to buy what will be most definitely be regrettable despite bargain price…

    • +2

try the Chicken Crunch on the voucher. best $3 you'll ever spend. just make sure to tell them to add piri piri sauce.

    • +4

wow that burger looks terrible in real life. totally put me off.

      • Me too. It looks like someone has had a couple of bites of the burger in the photo and then barfed right onto a cheeseburger bun.

    • Yep, that's pretty much how mine looked but I had less coleslaw… and much less beef from the side profile view :-/

    • That just looks sad.

    • Looks like the blogger got duped with cheeseburger buns.

  • How many kjs?

    • +1

Just 5 (the photo is taken inside a doll's house).

      • The one I got was roughly 1500kj fwiw.

  • +1

    hope it is a meal

    • +1

Yes, it is, but only if you are a small omnivore.

  • WORST burger ever…

  • West Terrace HJ's in Adelaide accepts the voucher

  • +3

Prepare to be disappointed… I thought it might be a store thing based on some bad feedback on the HJ FB page, but alas no. I just had it and although the bread roll itself was nice and soft, it's just a terrible burger with nothing on it (a small smear of beef plus 3 pieces of shredded carrot and 3 pieces of shredded white cabbage with a squirt of mayo - hardly 'coleslaw'). Looks nothing like the pictures and and disgraceful for $4.95. $2 maybe, but definitely not $4.95. They are kidding themselves.

    • +3

I concur 100%, just had one myself. Worth $2 max for sure

      • +5

And again. $2.00 is about right.

Unless you are in a rush and need the speedy service @ maccas or HJ, you get much better value going to a fish'n'chip or takeaway shop and have a real burger.

    • -4

Gotta agree! I've seen so many exaggerations of burger photos vs reality but this one is waaay too contrast!

Picture in the voucher is misleading hence I'm giving this a down vote.

      • Spurious comment with comedic intent. Negs used to be treated more seriously here.

        • Don't see why 4iedemon negged the deal in the first place. Has had over 6500 clicks and is a valid deal.

        • @Thespottedcow:

I'm using the basis that the product is 'defective' cause it's misleading and didn't live up to the product photo…

While I understand from time to time, the exaggeration of the burger photos can be quite significant, this is much more than usual.

It was like the above comment… a 'smear' of meat. I thought I'd highlight it so you guys are aware.

Who knows, maybe it was just the HJ branch that I went to? But usually they're good with all the other burgers.

    • +1

Agreed, the buns are nice and soft, mayo balances out the saltiness of the beef. But I would not pay $4.95 for one.

The burgers are breakfast at hungry jacks.

  • I just had my 2 for lunch, & while I agree its not worth the $4.95 Price Tag, Mine were surprisingly full of Meat & Slaw.
& with the free add on of the Angry Onions in the burger gave it a nice Zing along with the sauce….

  • +1

Love whoppers with cheese - so saw this deal - but then read reviews. Although have printed to take to the store , am now a little " should I , shouldn't I "
Looks great on the voucher - but it might seem a case of what you see will not be what you get. UUMMHH. Undecided.
Only have H.J. once a fortnight as a treat after shopping. Although realize the content is not particularly good for your body - the taste is yummy & far better than Maccas. So is a naughty treat- I cook delicious nutritional meals full of meat & veg. every day, apart from this once a fortnight indulgence to H.J. ( naughty but nice ).
Would like to hear more from you regarding this one before trying it out.

  • +1

I took mine to the store to grab 2 but when i got there used the shake and win app and won a free stunner meal instead, needless to say as much as I was keen to try out the new burger, I couldn't pass up a free meal.

    • You should have had both :)

  • +1

What an incredibly small burger….it is not worth $4.95. The BOGOF deal makes it an OK deal.

  • -1

Edit: Nevermind found it although it's crap reason.

  • Pulled pork and beef brings back good memories of my trip to America. Might just go to an American restaurant if I get a hankering for Pulled pork/beef.

http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/pulled_pork_sandwich/ to make your own Pulled Pork.

  • Tried this today at full price as Brisbane airport wouldn't accept the voucher. It was truly the most disgusting burger I have ever eaten. I'm not sure if it's just the Brisbane airport (probably worst HJ ever) store though but not going to throw more money to get mushing flavourless stringy gravy between two buns. (No coleslaw as they had run out).

    • +1

You should have asked for a refund if they did not include Coleslaw as it's advertised to be included.

  • +2

Thanks for voucher bought 2 last night before going to movies. Both were near cold and very small i ate both and was still hungry no way would i pay $4.95 for 1.

  • Tastes like meat pie on a bun.

    Not very good

  • +3

Mine was pretty small and was not particularly tasty
    http://i.imgur.com/6CxwSfa.jpg
    Banana for reference size

    • Oh wow, that resembles nothing like the burger in the picture. Definitely not buying this.

    • Hoping you have a big banana ;-)

  • Had one the other day and akthough it didn't look anything like the pic, it had a fair bit of filling and tasted pretty good. So I was rather pleasantly surprised :-)

This was from HJ Carseldine if it helps.

  • Not too bad, but 1 certainly wasn't enough!

  • If you're looking for a burger that looks like its picture, try the "Southwest BLT" at McDonalds. Looks and more importantly tastes great.

  • Where is the voucher?…
