Is this grey import if not rather annoying as order over 2 weeks ago austraian stock s5 from appliance online with the 20% off purchased to came to 559 which considering what others at time where selling for was good price.
I know the s6 was due to come out and this could come down lower but not this low.
This one is not much more than what kogan was asking with there 20% off but there one was grey.
I preferred to go for Australian stock.worst thing is its took appliance online two weeks to get the phones so they could not have had it in stock to start with and its being sent from over east so possibly another week till it gets here in wa so almost 3 weeks in and stilk not got them at this rate the s7 be out.
It was in gold both phones from appliance so maybe they never had that one.
But if this is Australian stock good deal wishing I had waited longer if grey stock then phew as dont fancy grey.

  • I thought 900i was a Australian stock phone, glad to here this was not Australian stock more so after just buying one.

    • Actually I am not 100% sure but from experience they are always grey.

        They are 90%, 100% of the time…

    • 900I is the Asian market version. DWI is grey.

  • Whats the difference between the grey import S5 and Australian S5? Is one more moddable over the other? Im looking the grab the G900I for the 700Mhz band.

DWI is a Hong Kong business masquerading under a .com.au domain, and behind an Australian company that is not registered for the GST - Trudark Pty. Limited. Strange as it has been registered since 1989 but has yet to turn over $75,000 a year in sales.

These phones are not really grey imports to Australia. They are private imports, imported by the buyers. There is no two year warranty from SAMSUNG Australia. There is no Two Year Australian Consumer Guarantee.

Things from DWI may be from the Hong Kong distributor OR may be a grey import to Hong Kong. In the former case you would have a SAMSUNG "manufacturer's warranty" in HK, in the latter case you would have a SAMSUNG "manufacturer's warranty" in the country of first sale (the IMEI will reveal to SAMSUNG which country that was).

If you buy a phone from DWI and have a problem, you post the phone to the DWI service agent Atech, who may then get it repaired in Australia or may post it to DWI Hong Kong, who then may post it to SAMSUNG Hong Kong for repair, who will fix it, post it to DWI HK, who will post it to Atech, who will post back to you.
