Nice find - although taking the survey is painfully slow and childish. But for a freebie is good. You dont know if you qualify (ie in the 25000) until the end

Worked for me…

The third “answer” is rubbish!!!
Q. How do viruses infect computers?
A. a)Viruses infect computers when they are exposed to external files

I think
b)When people contaminate their computer
is far more accurate!!!

Gravatar

Yes. Self-infecting virus (worm) that propagates by itself using security exploits is very rare these days due to firewall and most people are behind NAT with their broadband.

These days it is usually PEBKAC problem, unfortunately.

The 6th question :P

How do I use anti-virus and anti-spyware software?
Throw out your computer and buy a new one with anti-virus and anti-spyware already installed

I know some computer companies who would like that to be the answer :P

I got the e-mail with 3 license code pretty much straight away after completing the survey. The software is called ‘CA Internet Security Suite Plus’ and you can use it for up to 3 different PCs.

Gravatar

survey has some really silly questions (as mentioned above) but i guess the audience their targeting are those who dont have an IT background or dont use computers too often.

Its a freebie. and take 5mins :)

good find, I like the CA software, thanks a lot!

Good post! Review details…

CA offers something no other Internet security suite manufacturer does; they will reimburse you for damages if their software fails. CA will pay up to $5,000 for identity theft and $1,500 for damage caused by a computer virus—that’s confidence.

The CA Internet Security Suite combines four of their award winning security software: CA Anti–Virus, CA Anti–Spyware, CA Personal Firewall and CA Anti–Spam. This is a top–notch package and you can preview the individual programs before you decide to purchase the suite.

One significant feature CA doesn’t offer is wireless network monitoring.

sme73,

thanks for the review details!

I find it somewhat ironic that after answering questions about not privding personal information to third parties over the internet… they then want you to provide ALL your personal details including street address, phone numbers etc to claim the “free” software.

But +1 for the validity of the offer regardless of it’s security shortcomings.

I did the quiz, got 100% and determined I’m already WELL covered for my security needs thanks anyway Combank.

That’s hilarious, good ppoint

Best offer THX A LOT!

Security firm F-Secure has discovered a password stealing trojan targeting Commonwealth Bank users — and the malware isn’t being detected by the free antivirus software the bank is offering its online users.

According to independent antivirus testing tool Virus Total, CA’s Internet Security Suite is one of 10 antivirus engines that fail to detect the trojan, Trojan-Spy.Win32.Banker.ffo.

True, and thanks for the warning.

However as you point out its one of 10 others who didn’t catch this trojan.

The deal is still free software - and you don’t need to be a CBA user.

As you have been a dedicated Ozbargain participant, you would have already switched to one of the lovely bank bargains we have had posted here. ;-)

hey guys

just a heads up for anyone who happens to stumble upon this deal still. i think commbank caught onto the freebie and so now you have to log into netbank before you do the quiz. otherwise, it’ll say that you’re not a commbank customer after you complete the quiz and try to get the software.

cheers
