The $29 one is half the price of the next cheapest vendor (even without adding delivery):

…and the $39 is at least $10 better than other vendors (unless you can pick up from Megabuy or Umart in QLD):

Cheapest I've seen for wireless routers with GB ethernet (handy if you ever want very fast wired networking).

They also have a USB port for sharing one of those big external hard drives between your PCs.

Never heard of wireless1 but apparently they are Google Trusted (google insures purchases from their site) and have a shop in Westfield Parramatta (NSW).

So cheap I just bought one just so my Chromecast can show Netflix from other regions using Getflix.

I had never heard of this google trusted thing, and that is equals purchases being insured by Google… interesting. However I can say I have bought a LOT of stuff from these guys over the years via pickup and postage, and can only offer a positive recommendation!

Work has run out of wired patches on our floor as well as spare switches. Given this has gigabit ethernet, I'm thinking of grabbing one, disabling wireless, and turning this into a cheap gigabit switch.. thoughts anyone?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/114680 The dir-826l N600 $39 was $44 in aug 2013. So price hasn't changed much.

And no dd-wrt for those wanting to tweak around.

    • Yeah, damn. :-(
Been looking around for a decent (& cheap) gigabit router to DD-WRT for a VPN.

  • any of these do DDWRT?

  • I want to share a portable hard drive across my WiFi network. Is this N600 router an easy and decent one to do this with?

    • It claims it is in the description:

      Share and Stream Your Files

Connect a USB storage device to your Wireless N300 Gigabit Cloud Router to create a shared storage space, making it easy to share files between computers
and devices connected to your network. Plug in a USB hard drive to stream your library of videos and music to your laptop, or use a USB flash drive to share presentation files with other team members. An easy to use SharePort™ Mobile app allows you to back up photos and videos stored your device. You can even create separate accounts to control access to the USB drive, so you can share your music with everyone but keep your personal files private.

Mine hasn't arrived yet, so I haven't actually tried it…

I got one, before it was out of stock!
    Great value

  • Seems to be some still in stock on their ebay page, although $34.99
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/D-LINK-DIR-636L-Wireless-N300-Gig…

    • So,if they have got some for sale on their ebay page, then it being out of stock on their web page must be a lie ?

      • +2

The eBay quantity would have been set before this deal was posted on OzB.

      • +2

They have probably allocated x amount for the ebay page and the rest for the web store

  • Got one on their eBay page.

If anyone wants the D-link AC1200 wireless cloud router let me know, I bought a non-modem router by mistake so I have one to sell.

Bugger. You can't bridge the WAN port so it's only good as a 3 port switch for me.

    1. Connect an Ethernet cable in one of the LAN ports of the router and connect it to your other router. Do not plug anything
into the Internet (WAN) port of the D-Link router.
    2. You may now use the other 3 LAN ports to connect other Ethernet devices
    • I was planning to plug the WAN port of this into my Telstra cable modem for internet access and then connect all my wired and wireless devices to this one.

Are you saying that's not going to work?

      • +1

It will be fine for your application. It needs to be fed from a modem for the WAN port.

In my case this router is receiving the internet from a LAN port of my primary router, rather than a modem.
I have cable going from my main router downstairs to this new one upstairs to create an access point for wired and wireless devices upstairs.
I wanted Gigabit ports and WiFi so this fitted the bill for not much. I already had a LAN and Wi-Fi device in its place but it wasn't Gigabit

        • Ah, right. Thanks.

I just got mine today, have to try it out…

  • Really newbie question but as i said before i want a router that i could connect a usb portable hardrive and access content across the wifi network. Was going to opt for n600 but its sold out but noticed the n300 also has gigabit usb. Whats the difference in simple terms? I know one is dual band but will this make a difference to my net speeds (my isp is w3networks). Cheers for all your help.

    • Both are out of stock.

But yes n300 and n600 are the wireless speeds. N300 won't slow down your internet access, even if you are on very fast broadband like NBN (can't tell by your ISP, you have to look at the speed of your internet plan).

But it might be slower than n600 at transferring big files around your home network, if you plan on doing a lot of that.

      • Cheers. Probably worth paying the extra $10 . ill keep an eye out for either of them on sale
