Heinz Big N' Chunky Microwave Single Meals, 6 for $3.00 @ NQR Lilydale, (Vic)

110

These were originally 0.99 each, (still are if you don't buy in multiples of 6), good for a quick meal.

Flavours are:

Massaman Chicken Curry & Rice (400g)
Tikka Masala Chicken Curry & Rice (400g)
Thai Green Chicken Curry & Rice (400g)
Sweet & Sour Chicken & Rice (400g)

As you can see, they still have a fair bit of stock at Lilydale and appears to be across all NQR stores, (stock depending).

Deal is while stock lasts.

These are normally $4.91 each at Woolworths.

great price to stock up on preservatives, salt and other useful chemicals that our bodies require.

  • Expiry date?

    • 16/02/2015

I stick another picture of the back of a pack up.

      • Is that a best before ? because that would mean it's expired more than two months.

        • Well it is NQR…

        • @gokhanh:

Sorry we don't have a store like that in QLD maybe I didn't realise thats what they sell.

Best Before - these things are vacuum sealed they will keep for at least months if not years unless you puncture the pack.

          Added pack image above.

        • @Kaboda: No worries, was just making an observation; anyway wasn't there a guy here who bought boxes expired soup, wonder where he is…

        • @4wd:
Agree. Big difference between best before and use by.

  • These things are terrible! Rice is hard as a rock after cooked, not light and fluffy at all. Also I would be wary of the Feb expiry date. But each to their own.

I agree. The rice is almost unedible. The meat/curry/sauce can just pass as food but I find it has an unpleasant aftertaste. It must've tasted ok soon after it was made and packaged but god knows how many years ago that was.

I had the Tikka Masala and thought it was ok. The trick with the rice is to make sure you break it up really well before cooking, and I also stir the sauce through the rice, makes it moister, if that's a word…..
For 50 cents, that is one cheap feed. Ok, it's not gourmet, but it fills the hole for a quick bite.

  • Thanks, I work shift work and long hours so these meals are fantastic to take for a quick dinner on the go when I have nothing else. Picked up 36 packs at the Boronia store tonight.
