Free 6 Month Magazine Subscription 11 Titles - Buy 4 X 1KG Blocks of Colby or Tasty, Mainland
[P] InLikeFlynn on 26/11/2009 - 12:14 (upload.ozbargain.com)

Mainland Cheese is running a new promotion with its 1KG blocks of Colby and Tasty Cheddar range. Buy 4 X 1KG blocks of cheese and get a 6 month subscription to one of 11 popular magazine titles delivered to your door.

This is a great promotion bearing in mind that a block of cheese costs around $11 (but you have to buy 4 blocks) and the price of a magazine (say Women’s Weekly) is $6.80. Six months of WW would be worth $40.60 and it’s delivered to your door. The promo says magazine titles valued up to RRP $53.70.

Also worth mentioning, the 1KG block is on sale at Safeway at the moment - I picked a 1KG block up today for under $10.00.

Limit of one subscription per household.

Web link is here: www.mainland.com.au

Magazines on offer are:

  • Ausralian Women’s Weekly
  • Australian House & Garden
  • Australian Good Food
  • Australian Gourmet Traveller
  • Good Health
  • Disney Adventures
  • Disney Girl
  • Australian PC User
  • Motor
  • Rolling Stone
  • Money Magazine

Plenty of titles that should suit just about everyone!!!

Deal ends 3rd Jan 2010.

Oh, and BTW, IMHO Mainland cheeses are the best… Colby Mainland yum….

hmm.. thanks for pointing that out.. that’s a deal breaker. 4kg cheese is a lottt unless I’m hosting a party or whatever it’ll take me ages to finish it.

Yup - that’s a lot of cheese. Mind you, still have 5 weeks to make the purchases. My family of four will easily do 4 blocks.

Ours too, and it does have a long shelf life. Just don’t know if I should spend $40 on cheese this week, otherwise I tend to loose the receips!

You have to purchase 4 x 1kg blocks to claim! Not just one block as per the post, check the t &c’s

  1. To be eligible to make a claim, individuals must:

a. Purchase any four (4) Mainland Colby 1kg or Mainland Tasty Cheddar 1kg products from a participating Woolworths or Safeway supermarket nationally between 23/11/09 and 11.59pm AEDST on 03/01/10 (“Promotional Period”);

b. Collect a claim form from a participating Woolworth’s or Safeway supermarket nationally or visit www.mainland.com.au and follow the promotional links to download and print out the claim form;

just pop the cheese in the freezer - it keeps fine

may loose a little texture - but not taste

one point though - my coles is seeling 1kg of cheese for $7.50 - rather than $10 ish at the participating store

Any time you can get Colby cheese for $10 or less (1KG lots) is good value I think. I know the Kraft Colby sells at one of the supermarkets for a regular price of $8.50-$9.00 but I don’t think it tastes as good at Mainland. The supermarkets are starting to introduce their own brands but even still I think their Colby brands sell in excess of $10 for a 1KG. For some reason Colby cheese seems to be pricey compared to some other cheddar varieties. My kids only eat Colby - no discussions can be entered into. I’ve even tried tricking them into eating other cheddars - no show (strangely though, they will eat fetta- go figure).

What is the shelf life of these 1kg blocks, assuming they remain vacuum sealed?

I dont know I people support this kind of activity, but…..you could just buy the four cheeses, obtain the reciept, then have them refunded later that day/next day. Or exchange them for other items. Advice from the devil.

But then the supermarket will take the receipts off you when you return the cheese, or they will cross the cheese off the list if you’ve got other purchases on the same receipt.

4kg of cheese is way too much, can you say “heart attack”. Pass.

I’m pretty sure they accept photocopies. I don’t have the promo docket at the moment but I’m sure it said photocopies are okay.

Nah. I’ve worked on coles checkouts in the past doing refunds. Cashiers dont take receipts off you, and rarely bother crossing things off. You can exchange items without having the reciept too.

I thought they only allow exchange without receipt for items of low value, like a few dollars, nothing over $10, let alone ~$40 worth of cheese.

Anyway, thanks for the tip.
