You may have issues bringing this into the country. The carabiner doubles as a knuckle knife, which is illegal here.

    Aluminium!

Does 5-in-1 also refer to the risk of serious injury or death when using this for actual climbing?

    • for sure !

Here we go again. Take out the word "climbing" from carabiner and maybe you won't get sued when someone kills themselves using it to climb.

    • Can you sue a chinese company? from Australia?

    • I keep forgetting that

    • Thanks Newfrog.Official for updating the title.

why does everyone get upset about the use of the word 'climbing' with these things?
you can take it climbing to hold your chalk or something, just not to support anyone's weight. I'm pretty sure anyone who actually climbs would know this….

It is advertised as a climbing hook, not a chalk holding hook. I can see how some might draw conclusions.

  • Any idea what it might be rated to?

Seriously? A "Climbing Carabiner", presumably for (in theory) attaching ropes to that you are suspended by, with a pull-out knife incorporated into it ?!? lol. What could possibly go wrong?!?

    ;)

Definitely a "Darwin Awards" item. Climbers know their gear intimately and don't shop for it on Newfrog. Having said that there is no reason you couldn't use it while climbing, just not for weight bearing.

These are not for climbing. No Australian company would be allowed to advertise this as a climbing carabiner and there's no reason why it's okay for a foreign company to do it.

  • This would be illegal to import into Australia because the blade can be opened with one hand. Plus, the company's advert is a lawsuit waiting to happen, by claiming it's a "Climbing Carabiner". It doesn't have a load rating and thus, it is not for climbing.

  • No load rating, illegal blade, and not the first time rep has tried with these items if memory serves correctly.

Carabineers' should be banned from this site unless they are from a local or reputable company with proper load rating, unless they clearly state ** NOT FOR CLIMBING USE**
