Do these connect with your phone? like the iWatch ?

I assume the Surge is like the Charge HR which you download an app on your phone and can view everything in more detail on your phone. Also, when your phone rings, the watch vibrates and says whos calling, but not much more. But, that is the Charge, not too sure on the Surge!

If your heatbeat stops, does the FitBit call 000 ????

          I'll be your witness jv.

Still waiting for my Plum. Anyone else?

I gave up waiting for the wife. I asked @fitbit and they say they are having issues with supplying them. Which is funny as they use that colour for the ads.

      • So have you cancelled and received a refund?

I'm sure there would be some that even forgot they ordered one of these.

    • DSE were supposed to be receiving stock to their distribution centre on Friday, so I'd expect shipment fairly soon if you ordered one with that deal you've linked to.

  • Does anyone know if this is as accurate as other wrist-based HRMs (eg. Mio) for non-exercise use? Use case is for monitoring heart rate for my dad who has recently had a pacemaker installed. There shouldn't be any sudden high increases in HR from high intensity exercise, which seems to be a problem for wrist-based HRMs.

Great for non exercise use, but it measures every 5 seconds or so. There are ones that measure the heart rate every second. If you need it for R-R intervals it's useless.

      • K, I've purchased. Hopefully it works out well

  • Why upgrade? What's wrong with HR?

    • I do cycling (or at least I will when my car sells and I need to ride to work) and the Charge doesn't do cycling, but the Surge does.

  • I was looking at these last night comparing it to the Charge HR and found this review:

    http://gizmodo.com/fitbit-surge-review-if-only-this-was-actu…

Sure it's got GPS but this pretty much kills it "The Surge is water-resistant but not shower or swim-proof" It only sends call/text notifications, what about emails, WhatsApp etc? It should send all phone notifications.

Here's a great list of alternatives for every budget:

    http://gizmodo.com/the-best-fitness-tracker-for-every-need-1…

  • If you want water proof…. garmin vivoactive or 300xt

  • I had similar (the fitbit HR Version) and would not buy it again, the quality control is crap, and after a month of use condensation has got in and no where water resistant. The Heart rate monitor is a joke to, nice gimic imo.

  • Bought one, thanks OP

  • Keep getting an error that the $45 code is invalid. Terms state Fitbit is excluded, so not sure if thats the reason.

    Error:

Sorry, we are unable to validate your Promotional Voucher. Please confirm you have entered the correct voucher code, and check for any exclusions before calling our Customer Service team on 1300 366 644

    Terms:

Guessing they fixed an issue regarding it not excluding the fitbit?
